MPC 3000 SATA Card reader

So I was digging up looking for ways to get a better internal storage medium than floppies or emulators, and I saw a thread on the SATA alternative. After some positive results from that, I'm thinking of getting this chain for my 3000.

No, that is a PCI-Parallel Printer Port card, that is not SCSI, and is not SATA.

You need a SCSI-SATA bridge.

I used a Stratos Technology SCSI-SATA bridge, but that is not a cheap solution, as the bridge costs $150. No idea if there are cheaper SCSI-SATA bridges that will also work.

So even if there is a db25 and a SATA cable its not necessarily SCSI/SATA? Damn - do you know if a chain like like this would work?

No, you still need a SCSI-IDE bridge, such as an Acard AEC-7720U, or similar, to convert the SCSI signals from the MPC into IDE signals for the card reader.

They are different types of signals that need to be converted by using a bridge, not just different connectors that can be made to work with adapters to join the cables together.

No. It's just 68pin to 50pin converter. Really, nothing special - it can be bought almost anywhere. It's just a reduction, but you need an actual bridge as already pointed out by Simon few posts above.

I suggest you to educate yourself a little bit more about IDE, SATA, SCSI, bridges and reductions before trying to put yourself into any experiment..

I feel ya - I figured because it was sold by the same person that it was, but yes it does look identical to the other adapters that are not bridges - your right I didn't see that it wasn't scsi to ide
