sound issues...

Hi I just recently joined the forum, and its been a huge help getting started. that being said thanks to all you friendly mpc users out there. But im having problems getting a clean sample every time I try to record a chop its not loud enough. im not sure what to do if anyone is feeling mpc perceptive. it would be greatly appreciated :?:

Detail your complete setup, gear, cables, adapters, etc that audio travels through. Maybe we can figure out some help for you.

Ya im set up with the rca cables and 1/4" adapters right and left are in the right plugins the output isn't working either the gain and volume are maxed its just not putting out a good solid sound its playing but the hissing is probably the loudest part of the sample

Mpc 2000xl is attached to The 1/4 adpater that goes into 1/8 adapters that then go into the rca cable then the rca cable goes into a 1/8 soo I can get chops from my computer I have the headphone output going into my monitors..

When taking audio from a computer, I would guess you would have to turn the volume output of the headphone jack down. Keep turning down, test sampling. If there is still hiss, turn down a bit more till you get it.

I know when I'm doing mixtapes and I want to overdub some sound bites onto the tape, I have to turn the computer volume way down, otherwise I get a hiss. So surly the same thing applies here.

Are you running a mixer inline to the MPC? I saw you mentioned sampling not being loud enough. If it's from a record, the 2000XL does not have a Phono Pre-Amp built in, so you need to use any kind of dj mixer or something with an RCA labeled PHONO to power it up.

English is not my best language so to clarify because from what I'm reading you have a lot of adapters going on. Are you just taking 1/8" out of the computer, to dual RCA at the other end of the cable, with 1/4" adapters on each end into the MPC? My comprehension is awful, from how I read, sounds like more?

Well its an rca that adapts to 1/8 but its rca plugs have 4 different adapters lol rca to1/8 to 1/4 on the left and right then into my mpc then the 1/8 goes in my computer or sp 404 or whatever ive actually tried isolating it with my 404 to get a cleaner sound but the hissing will not stop

Might be something in that crazy ensemble of wiring you have going on! :lol:

You can't just get a dual RCA to 1/8" and two RCA to 1/4" Plugs? Would work a lot easier.

Or even better, Hosa has Dual 1/4" to Single 1/8" cables for cheap on Amazon.com
