I didn't mind the fact it's old and you have to know how to work on it. It's a hobby. But I can't repair a broken LCD. Now, they might not even exist in another 10-20 years.

I see that both mpcstuff.com and bignoiseradio.com still have a sign up list on their sites, but is that just to keep hope up? Or maybe they know something we don't. Just surprised neither has chimed in by now.

I ended up getting off mine. I thought I was the only one being a pain in the ass about it. But it did my head in. Every time I would be sitting at it, would be distracted by that LCD.

Sadly they could be extinct a lot sooner then that. Maybe not extinct, but within a couple years hitting the rare price point of 400+ if people want to make money and be dicks. Just look at ebay. Even the DPS12's are all gone.

If you contact MPCSTUFFF.com and ask to be put on the list, and if they have an estimate of when you'll see an LCD, to me they said a very strange reply.

My email:

"Hello,

I am contacting you in regards to a forum post on MPC-FORUMS stating to contact this email address to be put on the waiting list for a screen from Envision.

This should express a customer to add to the number of interested list.
"

Responce:

All is good.

I'll add you to the list. We are the developer for the LCD screens so we will have them first, as soon as manufacturing is finished. We dont have a solid ETA right now but hope to have one soon. The project has become more challenging than we originally thought. Pricing has not been set yet but we expect in the range of $165-$200 (give or take a bit).

Please let us know if you need anything else or if we can be of any help to you.

Best Regards,

Michael Minehart

But if you read the Envision posts, they say "WE ARE NOT AFFILATED WITH MPCSTUFF, THEY ARE THE DISTRIBUTOR"

Yeah, I'm the same. Every time I fire up my MPC I'm staring at the screen. Like please no, don't happen.

It's possible they went with another vendor and are keeping it on the DL until they can show they did it. So they don't have to go thru what happened again. Thinking about the what Envision did, I would do the same really.

One can hope this is whats going on. But, it seems logical really.

Envision said only listen to what they say, not MPC-STUFF because they are the distributor, but MPC-STUFF says they are the developer so who really knows at this point.

If it is in the hands of someone else now, however I could see the possibility of no talk till action, which how much flak they got. I commend the hell out of them for having screens, even with the lag issue was big time. They got the furthest so far.

A good idea would be to get one of those powerful little metal mini fans, and keep it behind the screen angled up.

I have a thread about it, explaining a bit more why it theoretically would help greatly.

That's an interesting reply you got from Mike at mpc-stuff. It looks like they're still committed to get the job done without Envision. I'm glad that he's doing the right thing here and not saying too much, like Envision had.

honestly, if I were envision.. I might have messed with the idea on the side during spare time just because I like mpcs and I owned a business suited for the task..... but I would have said **** the 2000 and 2000xl on a business level. There aint no money in it... nobody is getting rich of these screens... The company's 9 to 5 ain't slowing down for that task.

but because I like the 2000, I may have on my free time tried to see what is going on, just to solve the puzzle... then maybe for fun I would have put some time into a fix, strictly as a part of the hobby.

If those dudes feel remotely the same way, it becomes understandable why it takes so long to see a result. Some guys say "they would make a killing"... um, no... no they wouldn't. They aren't about to sell 15 thousand mpc screens.

I hope they didn't get bored of the idea and the passion is still there... because that is the only motivator of this actually happening.

To add to the confusion.

mpcstuff.com wrote:Seems to be a lot of bad info and misunderstandings going around.

Here is the bottom line...

Envision is the manufacturer and we (MPCstuff) are the distributors for the screens. The project is on-going and will be finished, exact time frames are not available at the time of this post. MPCstuff (distributor) or Envision (manufacturer) do not have an ETA at this time as its still not 100% known, any ETA you see or hear has been fabricated. The project was never scrapped, only delayed a bit.

When we have SOLID info on ETA and progress "envisionelec" and MPCstuff will update you. If you have any questions about the screens at all just contact us at [email protected]

If you want to get the screens, get on the waiting list. You can do so by directly emailing us at [email protected]

Hm. Said in the response to me, they were the developer. So maybe it is possible they took over. Mike is awesome, very fast to respond, his shipping times are great for items, and if you have questions, he is very pleasant to ask. Big respect to him and whoever else he works with. Shows much heart, his family is true.

As for the smart phone thing, I can see that being FAR more difficult to develop. Plus if on the Android platform, is there is no one size fits all option for anything. Even apps from the app store.

Being that all the hardware devices are different, different processing, coded differently, different screen sizes and all that, would make it twice as difficult.
