Selling my Ren, looking at mpc4000, mv8800 help

I have someone right now that will trade the 8800 in mint condition, straight up for the Ren but I am trying to get more info, should I ask about cd drive?

You haven't got a hope in hell of anyone trading a 4K for a Ren (unless they're mental) so take the MV while it's there.

Can someone tell me if the mv8800 can chop a sample into more than 16 slices max per patch? Can I have banks of up to 32, 48, 64 slices in a patch?

yeah 8800 over Ren anytime of the day.

You can chop up to 96 slices. Don't worry about the drive. You can get them cheap. The 8800 drive will read dvd's too so if you burn files to DVD-R or RW it will read them.

Part # for drive is UJDA770 for those concerned.

I swapped out the stock CD drive and installed a DVD drive (#UJDA770) on my MV8000. Now it can read and sample from my DVDs from Computer Music and Future Music magazines.

Roland has a PDF to help MPC users migrate over to the MV. If you know how to do something on an MPC, this booklet will tell you how to do it on the MV-8800.

What size screw driver did you use?

The smaller precision (jewelers) screwdrivers I bought at Radio Shack are what I used for the small ass screws on the CD drive…

I got a set of screw drivers of all sizes and shapes, even the three headed philips and five headed ones. Bunch of weird screw drivers in this set. Wished I had them during the 8-bit Ninitendo days. When the cartridges came with the standard philips screws, I used to open them up and switch the games inside, but Nintendo got wise and placed the three headed screws which monkey wrenched my whole game. Got the set at Pep Boys one day for $20 bucks during a overstock clearance.
