Time to switch to JJOS3 (or not) ???

This concerns a MPC1000 with a normal screen.
I have been a faithful to OS2XL, but it has been several months already since OS3 came to be, with several updates, and now maybe it is time to ask the question to those who switched to OS3: do you feel NOW that OS3 is a "better" or more "powerful" OS than OS2XL ?? Or does OS3 still need more development ?

I know that "better" and "powerful" are vague terms ... but can we agree on an overall, general opinion ?

I really like OS2XL (as a matter of fact just updated it today) and know it quite alright, but it is important for me to not be stuck in habits and be open to what's new.

So OS2XL still king (or not) ?

I don't have much time to give a detailed opinion but I use os3 and preferred os2xl, Having said that if you find features in os3 that are must haves then just try it out for a few weeks and see. I would say NDC is very hard to walk away from though. It's groundbreaking when ya think about it!

Os3 does have NDC only now it is NDS (non destructive slice)
Only the steps to do it are different..
I use Os3 for a while now and i'm very happy with it!
Check out the jjos site & see the differences between the os's

I would just upgrade to OS3 then play around with it to see if you get on with it or not. If its not for you then you can always go back to OS2XL.

I'm about to upgrade to 3 now. I've been having some bug issues with OS2XL lately, and JJ recommended the fix to my problem being just upgrading. Sooo...here goes nothing!

Aaaaaannnddd...never mind. I switched right back to JJOS2XL. It looked like there were some pretty sharp changes in OS3 (for instance, there's a graphical track/bar editor that makes copy/paste/delete very intuitive), but in the main screen, the fact that you have to cursor all the way up to loop and THEN press window and set your loop section with the jog wheel from within that window was pretty much a deal breaker for me. I've really gotten used to the customizable main and numeric keys in OS2XL, also. Not a fan of the reversible screen in 3, either.

3 did have a fantastic assignable pad aftertouch function in the main screen that lets you control your basic parameters like filter, ADSR, etc for either just that pad or the sequence, which I liked. The track mixer was much cleaner and had pan wheels similar to the pad mixer in the other versions, and let you toggle between the track mixer and pad mixer from one of the F keys.

I got scared off before I dug into chopping on OS3, but I gotta work in the morning.

I agree with you. I think this is a useless window. It just hides the main screen and the current location is hard to guess for long sequences.

At the moment TRIM mode is a deal breaker for me. I can't get used to it.

Yeah, I'm with you on the TRIM mode, as well. The tempo analysis feature was cool, but there are so many other ways of determining BPM that I'd rather have other features in place of that.

Im stil on OS2XL.the NDC on 2xl fits my workflow.OS3 couldnt do that for me.

i may be the minority here, but i fckin like os3, much more than os2xl.
really diggin the choppin and the general layout.
found it less cluttered and more logical than os2xl in many ways, just hopin the qlink shit will be better implemented in the next updates.
