What exactly is "true"? That sounds like something only you can define for yourself.

Knowing what I know now, ipad mini.
Tapping on glass doesn't bother me at all. Slow starting off for me due to never having worked with music on touch screens before but after a few weeks I was flying through menus and workflow techniques in beatmaker 2 like nobody's business.
Audiobus brings alot to the table. So do synth apps.

I wanted an all in one with no gear hanging off the ports. I don't like Apple at alll, but this thing grew on me quickly and The advantges hit me if the face like a sack of nickels.

Cool, cool thanks for that man, I'm a dedicated MPC user but after
doing some research on the ipad mini I can see that it can actually be
a musical beast, so yea that's probably the way um gonna go then thanks again.

i would say mpc500….i do agree with lamp, the apps on IOS are dope as **** and BM2 is basically like having jjos for ur IOS and that passes up a 500, but, i think a iPad is so **** cheaply made, there is no reason they should be the price they are, they are shit, I've had my 500 since 08' i doubt any IOS device will last that long, and if it does, it will need to be replaced with a newer version. if a iPad only cost 100. i would say go that route, but I'm a 500 guy myself..

One of the reasons I don't like apple. High ass prices for regular shit.

They won't last that long, unfortunately these days planned obsolescence
is more flagrant than ever.

I actually bought the ipad for the wife, she chose to stick with her lil itouch so I gave the ipad a whirl, absolutely love the musical abilities, meh for the rest.

Well you know, it comes down to what you want. The software or the hardware. You like something rock solid to fondle in your palms or you got delicate fingers and just want to dust-sweep a screen with your index? I'll tell you right now, with the 500 is a stripper on your lap giving up the ass while an iPad is jerking off behind a window staring at old lady Jenkins tits as she rocks on a rocking chair.

Fact is, if you are a nuts and bolts person, what you'll discover is that the iPad has an awful lot to offer the travelling beatsmith. BM2 is more capable than the 500 in its ease of use and implementation. All I need is an iPad, and if I'm feelin like expanding my repertoire on the run, nothing fancier than a netbook will allow me to do the damn thang like I'm at the crib. As small as the 500 is, it's still unwieldy in a lot of ways in comparison. The battery life alone on an iPad Mini will smoke the 500 in that regard. It's ability to audition and manipulate cloud computing solutions also smokes the 500 by an unfair margin. The effects that can be applied also smoke the 500. In a lot of ways, the 500 is a gimmicky solution for the traveler. This is why I own a 500 for that purpose but it never leaves the lab like the iPad.

However, coming from an old school pedigree the 500 always seems to garner my attention. I do my best work in the lab, and the inherent limitations of this piece make me shine like the sp1200 used to years ago. The USB implementation bring it up to speed in many ways and allow me to circumvent certain limiting factors that have plagued hardware for years...

The 500 is my favorite current piece, but my purchase to use it on the run was misguided. I would rather touch it at home and freak the iPad on the run for a multitude of reasons but to each his own...

I hear you and the fact for me is I also like trying new stuff
And the ipad mini (while I laughed at it when it first came out,... Cuz I'm far from an apple fan boy also.) seems like it would be the "Aw man
Thass a dope ass idea,I need to lay that down." solution. I mean I ain't
an apple guy but if they are the ones with the tools.......

After looking into it, that's exactly how I felt

Why can't I sweep fondle rock solid stuff?
