Slaving 3K to Live 9 problem

I can't get my 3000 to slave to Live 9.. I've got "sync" turned on in the Live preference menu & MIDI clock is activated in the 3K sync setting but the MP won't start when Live is playing.. even more strange when i hit play on the 3K the beat starts playing in perfect sync for up to a half measure then stalls.. the BPM and Transport on the MP also shows some weird behaviour flickering like there is some kind of conflict. I know my midi routings are correct because the sync works perfectly in Logic X. anyone else experience anything similar?

You sure you have turned Sync on in Live preferences for the computer MIDI output that is connected to the MPC3000 MIDI sync input, and sure you are using the correct computer MIDI output and MPC MIDI input?

Have you tried changing the MIDI Clock Type (Song Position Pointer) in Live preferences from Song to Pattern?

yes of course.. like i said the MP does clock to ableton tempo it just doesn't start/stop

that sounds like it could be it! where is that option though i don't see it in midi preferences??

Is there a triangle/arrowhead next to the MIDI output in Live MIDI Sync preferences, to click on and dropdown some more options?

Something like this? Not sure if Live 9 is the same as Live 8?...
