MPC Studio : Step Edit, then Mavericks.....

sorry guys, but maybe, i've made a mistake, surely because of my poor English. What i want to ask is : is it possible to record a track step by step with the MPC Studio like i do with my old 2k ? This is called the "step write mode", isn't it, not the "step edit mode"... ? i'm a little bit confused about this, i don't even remember what's the name of the mode when you record in "real time".... Please help to check this out....!!

Download the MPC2000 or MPC2000XL user manual, find the function you are talking about, make sure YOU know what it is you are asking about.

The equivalent to the Step Edit mode from the MPC2000XL has been included in MPC Software 1.6 as the List Edit mode. Step Edit/List Edit let you move through a sequence one step at a time, and it shows you a list of events on each particular step. That is not what I would call 'real time' recording.

Not sure what you mean by 'real time' recording from the MPC2000, isn't that just the MPC2000 Main Screen mode, which is the same as the MPC Software Main Mode?

Yes they did implement the MPC2000XL Step Recording feature you are talking about as of 1.6. Check out this thread:

Thank you for your answer. To Simon : there is 2 main ways to record a track on a MPC, ok : step write, which is step by step, and "tap write" (i don't know the real name) which is recording in the same time that the track is "running" (i never use this way to record a track...!). I'm not confused in the difference between those two "modes", i just don't remember the NAME of the second mode that i call unproperly "tap write" or "real time write", is it clear enough like this...?

One is step edit, added in MPC Software 1.6 and called list edit, where you edit the events on one step of the sequence at a time.

The other 'real-time' way is just recording and overdubbing in the MPC sequencer Main Screen/Main Mode.
