mpc 1000 w/ JJos1 - Can't get midi out to work

Been trying to get my mpc 1000 to work as a midi controller for a while now, but I've tried everything and it just won't have it. I'm 100% sure it's not the midi cable or anything like that, but my DAW just isn't receiving any MIDI input, whereas if I just move the midi cable over to my DX7, it works fine. Presumably I haven't set something up properly? I remember clock sync out working fine a while ago.

Any ideas?

In MPC you just set up MIDI send channel for a track on main screen, right bottom where is written "MIDI OFF" as default and that's all.

I'm also having problems with Midi Out, i've tried syncing to both a x0xbox & minibrute to no avail.

In the midi menu, i've set the sync out to AB Master, the mode to midi clock & MMC to off.
In the main screen, i've set the track type to midi, &the track to 1A and plugged the cable into Midi Out A. I've then but a couple of midi notes on C5 via the step sequencer.

The midi in on my x0xbox is set to channel 1 so from what i've read, this should work but doesn't. When I press play, the MPC plays but doesn't seem to be sending any midi. I've tried on different midi channels but nothing, it's the same scenario with the minibrute. I've midi synced both with my DAW previously so I know it's not a problem with them or the cables.

I'm using JJOS1. Is there something obvious i'm missing?

Are you plugging the MPC MIDI output into the synth MIDI input?


Do you have to do anything on the synths to put them into MIDI Clock receive/slave mode?


Have you tried playing the pads, across all 4 pad banks, or putting in MIDI notes lower down the range?

Maybe C5 is too high a MIDI note for the synths to respond to, if that is what you are talking about by 'C5'.


Do you have a MIDI interface on your computer? If so, maybe try plugging the MIDI out of the MPC into the MIDI input of your computer MIDI interface, and running a MIDI monitor utility to check exactly what MIDI messages the MPC is outputting.
