Internal or SCSI? And is the unit a Classic or XL?

Has this just occured out of the blue? As in worked before and suddenly stopped? Or never worked.

Does the drive make any sound? Clicking or reading sound?

Go ahead and pop the disk out, then remove both the power and data cables from the drive. Wait a few seconds, 10 maybe, then plug it all back in, insert the disk, flip the XL back on and see if that helps.

Can you try any other disks? This will help narrow down if the problem is the drive or the disk.

30 bucks!?!?! That's outrageous... I wish I would of seen this sooner :/ Computer parts stores online have them for 2-5 bucks. Amazon.com is a good place for that stuff. It's not a special part. Same goes for RAM.

Perhaps it the cable then that was wrong, if you said it was coming apart.

Update us when you have new cables in place.

Same computer I got my ribbon cable out of haha! I HATE how that thing opens -_-

I always mange to get only one of the buttons pushed in, so only a bit of the case starts to separate.

When you said the cables were coming apart, out of curiosity, what did you mean?
