Midi Delay Challenge (software synth-mpc 40000

When it comes to sequencing nothing beats the mpc 4000 to me. I love it.
I'm using it with my pro tools system and i'm trying to use some of the software synth sounds. (stylus, trilogy, etc) i got it all hooked up right. i'm able to record midi into the mpc which then sends the midi data to pro tool's synth plug in. the only problem is it's got a slight delay. enough to throw the drums off. where is the problem? how do i fix it. I'm using a unitor midi interface. to ask it simple. If there is a delay in midi ,who is responsible, and how do you get around it. i love cpu softwre synths there has got to be a way to use them, and sequence them into the mpc without the delays.

The delay is almost certianly not caused by the MPC4ooo. Any latency (the term used for delay in audio) is caused by the Soundcard in your Pro-Tools rig. It is basically the time it takes for the rig to convert the MIDI data it is recieving into the Audio Output of your softsynths (stylus, etc).

In order to rectify this problem, you need to reduce the buffer amount with your soundcard settings. Unfortunatly I am a Cubase SX user, so I can not guide you any further on this matter, but hopefully I have pointed you in the right direction.

in Preferences > Hardware try putting in a low hardware buffer setting. gennerally 128 samples should be o.k. for latency. If your CPU can't handle lots of plug-Ins at that setting try bouncing them down as you go along.
