Ableton 9 and Push Controller looks great!!

i find the pads for finger drumming on the push controller pretty shit... (in terms of velocity transfer)

Otherwise it's a really good experience and hands on workflow...

are the "akai made" pads really that bad? Im kind of turned off hearing about the crashes, is that happening with/without push?

The sensitivity and velocity curve can be adjusted. I have my threshold to -2 and the default is 0. My curve is set to log-2 and default is log-1. With those settings mashing out beats is much easier. I have really long alien-like fingers so the small pads and their tight grouping cause me to tap pads I don't want at times. Also be careful with putting the sensitivity too low because you can trigger pads with the slightest tap.

You will need to mouse around with a push. Maschine still has the better browser and chopping. Push is only good for browsing kits you've already made, but if you are browsing through your single chops you will need to mouse around.

I don't have maschine or the MPC studio/Ren, but i do have my full sized Spark and I love browsing all my sounds with a turn of the knob.

A friend i recently did some work with had abelton and push controller, We added some percussion stuff .. on his computer.. HE was running a 15 inch retina with 16gb.. Wasn't more than like 9 tracks( and 2 massive synths) .. We got about 8 bars of percussion then bang.. Crash...

Are you running 9.1 or an earlier version? Are you on mavericks? I would go to Ableton support to find out if your settings need tweaking. On my 5 year old win 7 machine I can run 12 tracks of ableton devices and VSTs without hiccups.

this it's why I'm scooping up a machine mk2 or a studio. im not a fan of the pads for finger drumming. I also like chopping in maschine better. I usually use my own personal presets to chop stuff. I feel like I came up with more creative chops in my mk1

The pads are complete garbage, you would have thought they take a step out of NI. Then again this is Akai.
