Working with loops on MPC60/lack or timestretching

First post after just getting a 3.10 mpc60 last week! I'm not a pro at sampling but I've been able to competently set up some instruments and make some great programs/sequences with single hits I've sampled into the akai. However, I would like to start getting into sampling loops into the akai and chopping them up, but my main problem is that (I didn't realize this before, but) there is no timestretch function to bring a loop to the tempo of the project. I feel like the obvious workaround would be to sample the loop first into a DAW or my S1000, timestretch to the MPC's tempo there, then resample that into the MPC, but my fear is that I will lose the quality of sampling directly from vinyl->MPC60. What is the standard procedure for this? Any tips? Thanks in advance!

But this method will rarely match an exact tempo you are looking to match, will it? Let's say I'm running a project at 112.6bpm and sample in a drum loop at 97.7bpm. How would one usually sync this up to fill one bar of my project?

No problem man. You're pretty limited in the 60 and 3000. No time stretching in either one of those. The pitch function usually makes stuff sound better though IMO, especially for hip hop. Also try chopping a drum break on the 1/4 or 1/8 notes, when you adjust the tempo it will still play in time and slowing down pitch can make it swing even with the chops quantized. Just mess around with it, you can do a lot with workarounds even though you don't have time stretching.
