funny u did that, I'm in contact with someone right now to straight up trade my REN for someone's maschine studio lol trying to wait out and see this 1.7 but either way I don't think I can wait any longer and the Ren is def not getting anywhere near the maschine anytime soon. I mean the MPC has some advantages and features over maschine studio/2.0 but really NI is just going to blow away the Ren with future updates, the little features missing from Maschine that the MPC has are so minuscule NI can easily add anything the MPC has in one of it's frequent updates, every request from their forums seems to be picked up quick and the updates roll out with up to date info on whats being improved. I think the maschine has a way higher ceiling which really shouldn't be the case bc Akai has an awesome hardware unit but what kills it is just the really basic software, the ren/studio is just a very basic mpc, with vsts/plugins, and a few bells and whistles to make it seem modern. a real nice hardware mpc(controller) but even with all the qlinks, so much control is under utilized, sometimes I look at the Ren and just say damn this thing looks beautiful, but the software is another story. If the renstudio wants any chance they are going to have to rewrite a lot of that software, add more robust features, and they need to mesh smoothly with the workflow and especially the controller. Akai needs to put out some sounds kits, their own vstsinstruments, or anything that will help spice up the software, new color scheme woulnt hurt, location of certain things in the software, the way things are controlled from the hardware, right now it just feel like Akai is improvising with every update. NI seems to have a set organized plan that they are following through with successfully while at the same time they have a great controller and great software. If I get rid of the Ren Im going to try to get my hands on mpc4000 also just so I can still have an official reliable mpc thats stable and not dependent on computers and os's no worries about compatibility
