Are there any limitations or restrictions for upgrading from

Just wanted to ask because, from what I can tell, 3.11 is a straight software upgrade but I also have seen some sites talking about 3.11 EPROM chips.

Would these chips solely be for earlier 3ks that didn't come with 3.10 installed?

Just wanted some clarity before I attempt the upgrade from 3.10 to 3.11.

Im not sure what exactly you are asking. 3.11 is a software upgrade that is on a a set of eproms. That is the only way to upgrade to 3.11. You must purchase the eproms and install them in your machine. Im sure you can find a set from a forum member. They are occasionally for sale on ebay as well

There is a floppy boot disk for the 3.11 OS. It is not solely a EPROM upgrade. The disadvantage to using a floppy OS is that you lose some RAM since the OS has to be stored there.

You do not need to purchase the ROM binaries since they are available to download from the MPC3000 Yahoo Group. You will need to be able to put them onto EPROMs, maybe some kind soul here on the forums will not gouge you on the service of putting these binaries onto inexpensive EPROMS. Or you can just buy the equipment and do it yourself.

If you are unable to access the files from group, PM me and I will send you a link to download them.

There are also the 3.12 and 3.16 available, but I think floppy boot only.

And Vailix 3.50 as ROM only, but no longer readily available.

My apologies. I was not aware 3.11 was made available on floppy as well.
