Trouble loading sounds and samples onto mpc 2kxl with card r

I just picked up an MPC 2kxl blue edition with a card reader. Its fantastic.
I've been doing my homework for the last 2 months about this machine but have yet to come across any solid and helpful information about loading sounds and samples onto the MPC using the flash reader As opposed to the floppy. I'm pretty sure you can just put said card into your computer, add sounds, and then replace it back into the mpc and load them up, but detailed instructions would be very, verry helpful.
I'm looking for clarification on:
What kind of files are readable
Whether or not I need to convert and if so, what's the most reliable program
Any other useful information

Please understand that I know very little about this particular subject because as I said before, I haven't been able to find information on it, so it would be helpful if you'd elaborate for the sake of saving time.
I'm grateful for any tips you could give me in perfecting this craft, so all comments are welcome.
I'm new to MPCs but am extremely willing to put in the time necessary to learn my new machine.

44.1kHz/16 bit .WAV files, or Akai .SND format files (not Mac .SND or other .SND format files).

You need to convert the files if they are not in the format above.

Not sure there is any 'most reliable program'.

There are many different options for programs that will convert audio files to .WAV files at 44.1kHz/16 bit.
