Back to this, actually no, the video tape, when used for recording digital audio, did not run at a frames per second equivalent to a maximum of 44.1kHz.

The video tape ran at the normal video frame rate of 25fps for PAL video recorders, and 29.97fps for NTSC video recorders (maybe 30fps since the signal was monochrome), with the 44.1kHz or 44.056kHz digital audio signal being encoded into that 25fps/29.97fps video signal.

do you guys think getting an s2000 or s900/950 is worth it? I'm currently looking for an s900 but its rare as hell. They're either broken in some way or in some other country.

what you do is listen to that type of music. then you look at the tools you have in front of you and get creative about how you do YOUR thing.

My s900 from way back went for like 130 bucks, which was probably the best spent money ever, I used it for everything, awesome machine.

But thats ME, it doesnt necessarily have to be the best shit for you. a good plus is that its not gonna loose second hand value so you could buy and and try it out, if it doesnt fit you, sell it.

I'd say in terms of the drum patterns you've pretty much nailed it.
I'm no expert, but as constructive criticism I'd say it was the accompanying music that made it sound less like authentic boom bap.
Perhaps try a more minimal approach to the other sounds.

Short chops of piano riffs & horns with subtle drops & variations kind of sums up the boom bap style to me, although that just kind of sounds dated now days, but using a limited amount of sounds and some how managing to make it sound interesting and not repetitive.

Anyway I thought all those beats were nice, so big up !
