American MPC2000XL in Norway?

Hi! I recently bought an American MPC2000XL from the US. On the back of it says that it runs on 120v, while in Norway it's 250v or something I think. I've tried to google this issue, and I feel like I've been getting some mixed messages. Some people says that the MPC will convert the power automatically, and some people say that I'd need a voltage converter or else I'll fry it. What should I make of all this, and what should I do?

Most MPC 2000XLs will run on any of the usual voltages around the world but apparently some don't.
If your MPC says 120volt on the back, I think you should assume that that is what it needs and that trying to run it on your native 250volts will almost certainly seriously damage it.
Your easiest option is:
Get a step down transformer. This is a separate unit that will provide the voltage you need for your MPC.
Should not be too hard to source in your country or you could order one from abroad.

I have read that they all have auto-switching power supplies, even though some US units list 120VAC only on a rear panel sticker.

Under the 120V rear panel sticker is the real 100-240VAC voltage spec.

Possibly all you can do is just plug it in, and see if it works, or use a stepdown transformer.

If it doesn't work on 240VAC, it 'might'/'should' just blow the circuit protection fuses in the power supply, but I can't guarantee that it would not damage anything else in the MPC.

All AKAI MPC's from the 2000 series are Multi-switchable indeed. The 110V sticker on your unit is probably there because it needs that indication when exported to the US.

So you can use your MPC2000XL here without any problems. You only do need another -suitable- power cord.

So, I decided to just stick a plug adapter on the end of my MPC's cord and go for it and - what do you know...it works! Throw out your step-down transformers guys! Whew, good to know finally.

I brought my MPC2000XL from the states to Alta, Norway and used it without a transformer. No problems since it is dual voltage.

you can definetely plug your mpc in european power points as all the 2000 mpcs have voltage converters!
