mpc2000 freezes when going to record digital input

Hi,

my MPC2000 freees when I change the input to digital, when in record mode. I have the 8 outs and digial I/O expansion installed and am running version 1.72 of the OS.

Does any one have any ideas about what may be wrong?

what did you connect to the digital in? It might freezw because of a wrong samplerate/bitdepth of the source.

Hi, I have it connected to a pulsar2 sound card. It works on my mpc1000 without an issue, but I want to get it going on the 2000 as well.
It also happens if nothing at all is connected. As soon as I switch the input setting to digital, the machine locks up and nothing happens.
The multi-outs function correctly on the machine, so I guess that means it is installed correctly (I think!)
Am pretty sure that all the settings are correct at 44.4khz.

Have you tried plugging the MPC1000 SPDIF output into the MPC2000 SPDIF input, to see if the MPC2000 works with a different SPDIF input to the Pulsar SPDIF output?

Hmm, I tried that and it works. So does recording digital to the 2000 from the other source.

It seems to be the cable or something. While in digital mode, I removed the cable, and it glitched out and froze.
Interestingly though, is that it froze when there was nothing at all plugged into it. So, maybe there is a loose connection somewhere.
Is that enough to freeze it? At least I have a workaround, but would be good to know why it happens...

I joined this forum because I have had the same issue with my MPC2000 as well. Whenever switching to the digital out, it simply freezes, and sometimes I have to restart the machine.

So did you ever find out exactly what the issue may be?

I am betting it is a bad output board (i bought from eBay) but I do not have another one to test. So i may bring it to a repair shop..
