I have zero appeal for the Aira series. They're not looking special to me and I can bet they're going to be 'has-been' in a few years. I could go further and say they look so '2005' to me already but whatever...

The simple fact Akai brings something new, with a new name, new workflow and analog circuits is enough to make me eagerly waiting for more and expecting a cool instrument.

The price is a killer too.

for all its worth though, pricewise, i am not really onboard with this synth race to the bottom.

one has to wonder what conditions the gear is produced in, how long it will last,
what corners have been cut etc.

i am not against paying a premium price for a product i will be able to enjoy decades to come. and its so gratifying to fondle a well made piece of tech.

ofcourse those days are gone. no matter what price - all shit breaks.

Like Coz said, if that drum machine sounds good, it's going to sell like hot cakes.

Also, looking at the new APC range, a black Ren has to be coming soon. They share many of the same parts.

Interesting, lol, I honestly was thinking the exact opposite when I saw this in the other post. Just my initial gut reaction to seeing this after the 'hype'...I guess I should wait until it's demoed somewhere before clowning the move....

If akai would copy anything I wish it would be the plug out concept...dump the ren software to the usb drives and let us run the ren unplugged from the pc, but I guess that would require some sort of processor and OS on the Ren...oh well

Interesting, lol, I honestly was thinking the exact opposite when I saw this in the other post. Just my initial gut reaction to seeing this after the 'hype'...I guess I should wait until it's demoed somewhere before clowning the move....

hype? i only recall one blurred pic if anything. actually there has been surprising little fanfare for a completely new product of this caliber. hell the element had way, way more teasers.

i find this a step in the right direction but still think that akai is too disconnected from its real userbase to ever come back on track.

too much corporate thinking involved and real heads sniff it out like sharks do blood.

Actually, they had 3 teasers, wolf was the first one, followed by blurred pads.. then the last one was more colourful, so basically a teaser for each product.

Not bad.. they came out with so many at one time. But I already bought MStudio.. so I am just enjoying the show

A really nice companion to the smaller mpcs like 1k and 500..

The limited outputs isn't a deal breaker for me because i'm just gonna sample it!!

I dont care that it is analog, more that it's got all i've been looking for in a hardware drum synth unit..

Drums on a Mono out.

Tune, Attack and decay for each drum.

Meh - count me out. Boring.

Not bad for 200, wish it had a headphone jack.
