Absolute garbage! It's only 200 bucks cause you ALL already have every sound that p.o.s. Can make. It's a cheap Roland 808/909 reprint/copy. That shit will only make the same sounds you have piled on your hard drive. F

Fix the **** ren. Make it perfect. The list of things that need to be done to that are huge ....STILL!

They keep wasting time on this crap. Straight consumer style. Pump out as much trash as a dumb American kid can buy.

The simple fact Akai brings something new, with a new name, new workflow and analog circuits is enough to make me eagerly waiting for more and expecting a cool instrument.

The price is a killer too.

I'm waiting on the System-1. I think this will go a long way. Roland has shown dedication to all of its keyboards in the past. This one is going to be a game changer for them if they can pull it off. It doesn't drop until June 2014 anyways.

Anyone notice the resemblence of these new products to the Roland products? I don't think that APC Keyboard is going to be better than the System-1 Keyboard.

If akai would copy anything I wish it would be the plug out concept...dump the ren software to the usb drives and let us run the ren unplugged from the pc, but I guess that would require some sort of processor and OS on the Ren...oh well

:worthy: :worthy: :worthy:

This system might be a game changer for all portable midi controllers.

With the RW, synth/drum machine heads probably outnumber people buying samplers 10 to 1, and it could be much higher than that. Seems like a good business move if it sounds decent.

The APC stuff leaves me cold though.

Did any of the MPC Software programmers waste their time on this crap?

How did this impact on the MPC Software development?

Not sure this was from the Ren team, but I feel you on some of this. It looks nice I'll say that much. If they follow the same look and feel for a Ren mk II, they'd have something. But at $200, a safe assumption is that it doesn't have that much new in terms of sounds or sound capability. Stress *assumption*.

Either way, not for me, so I'll just move along. When they come out with improved software and a Ren mk II, I'll pay attention.

Simon... We don't have to. In the release notes they expressed it has the same ol' analog sounds of the past.

• 5-voice analog drum machine and synth—authentic analog design that references classic rhythm machines and synthesizers
• Legendary analog drum sounds—kick, snare, open & closed hi-hat, and metallic percussion
• Synth-bass module—selectable square or sawtooth wave with classic filter design for warm, deep basses and squelchy leads.
• Onboard 32-step sequencer—classic drum machine workflow for quickly laying down grooves and melodies
• Six genuine MPC pads—responsive controls for sequencing and finger drumming.

I'd put my money it's got thee same sounds as the MPC software vst-809. And well I have 30 damn vst synths that play the same wave forms with the same oscillators, and filters. So synth... Yeah ok. But your style of fishing... I think you just wanted to here my explanation to yes an assumption. I know you know this shit son. But I'll play along.

you do realize that non dsp has esentially no OS to code? hence no programming resources need to allocate to it.
and that companies need revenues? and programmers cost money.

i have been called an akai hater in most discussion but i try to be objective and find this vitriol too much.

about the ren: there have been reviews, opinions, discussions and fÜck all on the ren.
if you bought a product and it doesn´t work as it should - sorry but it was your own decision. so many people on this forum warned against it.
you buy a product based on capabilities not promises.

i am sorry and not trying to add to your pain but its the simple truth.

I'll wait to **** about the sounds until I can hear them.

If you don't like it, I don't see the problem, it's $200, no one is forcing you to buy it, or care either way about it.

Still not seeing how the development of this impacts on the Renaissance at all.

Did the MPC Software programmers spend time developing this?

I don't have any pain. I purchased this the first week it was in stores. Long before we realized it didn't hold up to the listings on the box. I didn't need to sit around and stack the piggy bank. Now my point is the time they spend creating these stupid midi controllers that have already been done. Should be focusing on software dev. Maybe like simple stuff that are 6 month beyond late! Like sound card drivers! Who the hell needs another midi controller. Keyboard or button pushing piece of shit. I'll tell you.. The kids of tomorrow. What you think is truth is really your unknowing opinion directed at someone you know nothing about. So pipe down. Do you have a ren. Or are you one of many in the ren forum barking nothing.

I feel you. But do you really think it would be differant? It's a tr-808/909 period. With a simple synth. And yes my friend I think the developers that should be working on ren software are developing these things. We all know there is only a small handful, of people in the akai lab. I'm not really hating on the new toys. Just tired of them Taking years to implement the smallest upgrades needed for the ren.
