So you just want to use the Fantoms sequencer, and use the MPC as a module to output just your drums. I think question 1 is where you are going wrong...
Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you are going to be able to get full functionality from the MPC (16 level, tune, etc) without using the MPCs sequencer.
I would do every thing the opposite way and use the MPC's sequencer, clock, and MMC.
Sequence the performance in the MPC. Your doing it the hard way! Because the MPC can record and control the MIDI events that you play from the Fantom.
