So, I got an XL last week and I've been playing with it since. Ive recorded a couple of sequences (kick, snare, sample) and now i'm out of memory. I literally can't load anymore sounds onto the machine from my cf.
It says the free memory for sound is 1900k and free memory for sequence is 2640k
now, I know that whenever I load a sound, it takes memory depending on the size.
in this case, my 8 second sample was 1200k and the single kick, single snare, and 2 bass hits ate up the remaining memory. This all makes sense, but my question is,
How am I supposed to construct a song with such limited memory?
its particularly frustrating to deal with considering i'm still learning the basics of the machine, but is this really all I have to work with unless I open it up and add RAM?
For example, if I wanted to use this 1200k, 8 sec sample and also sample a bassline from a record, I wouldn't have room for drums or anything else for that matter.
So, please let me know if i'm missing something, or if there are any solutions to this problem. I could quite possibly be overlooking something very simple because i'm not really clear on sequencing either.
thanks for the help.
