Because sample time is the true defining point when it comes to vintage gear pricing. There a REASON this thread is 40 pages deep over a $2000 1980's drum sampler with 10-seconds of sampling time.

Thats the general price range for that beaster there, but, yeah....I think I would try the Arturia plug-in first,

Prices for some of this shit has gone **** stupid in the last few years.

A System 700 Main Cabinet and Keyboard was also $3500, the Sequencer $1500, and a small side cabinet was a few hundred. Would love to pick up the other 3 side cabinets, but even if I could find them, I expect they would be priced too high for me to afford them.

Its the reason why most 90's hip hop sounded good.

(With sampling techniques you can squeeze out like 14 seconds and with another sampler by its side theres no problem.)

I feel you there, supply and demand I guess. Nice that they are finally starting to recognize the potential in rereleasing updated versions of the vintage gear (eg: korg Arp Odyssey, Roland Aira TR-8, Korg MiniMS-20 etc.). Hopefully we see another version of the SP1200 that isnt connected to a PC.

I cant comment on sound/build quality, Im just assuming the devices are at least close.
