Sampling on MPC 5000

I bought a mpc 5000 this week. It has different features from my mpc 2000XL. My question is... How do I take a sample directly off of a dvd that I place into the DVD port. I hit MODE & PAD 4 (record sample), then change the input to CD, then I'm lost. No sound comes out. I see the time moving but there's no sound. These are wave files, does that matter?

Is this a DVD containing a bunch of WAV files? If so you need to go to DISK, LOAD, select the DVD drive and then load the WAV files into memory.
