Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Some buttons on my Ren stopped working.. sample edit.. tap tempo.. cursor buttons.. some of the number buttons.. main button sort of transmits - I will press it and it may or may not function, pressing it repeatedly will work though.. cursor buttons above stop/play/record not working.. and a few others.

All pads are functioning. I took it to Long & Mcquade, the place I bought it, and the guy said it's probably just "gunk and dirt". I bought the Ren in 2012.

Anyone ever have these issues? Ill be surprised if the problem is actually what the dude thinks.. I'm a clean freak and it's not like I use my ren in a sand box lol.

He gave me the option of either them sending it to Akai for repairs or having their local guy that does repairs come pick it up.. I figured Akai would charge a fortune plus shipping fees so I decided for their man to have a look. Anyways just thought I'd post to see if anyone else has had the same or similar problem.

I'll keep posted when I find out what's going on.

Doesn't this fall under akai's guarantee? And wouldn't u lose that if someone else then akai opens it and touches it?? And this is very disturbing to me....i do not look forward to being in this situation....and if I am I would urge akai to go and fix it, costless....maybe only sum sending costs....

it´s a common problem with nukai gear. they use cheap tact switches that break easily.

i am taking care of my equipment but my newly bought 2500 had problems with the tact switches only 6 months after purchase.

so that´s why i´ll never buy again from these motherfvckers.

anyhow, you could try deoxit d5 first. it has made my dead tacts work again for the last 2 years. it´s a wonderful product!

I don't think its a firmware issue. Most buttons are functioning, the main button is kind of "sticky" so to speak (not literally sticky) in the sense that you press it once it may not respond you press it again it responds. If it was a firmware issue I don't think any of the buttons would be working.

You'd be surprised.

deoxit is the shit!! it has been magic for me with my mpc500 and 1000, tact switches and the jog wheel….shit is the truth, i think it don't matter how much u use ur mpc, even if it sits in a box, these components probably are oxidizing while ur mpc sits on the store shelves waiting to be bought..

i've yet to get a Renaissance but was really hoping the build quality would be on a years-of-use level. specifically the tacts which started failing quite early on with my 2500.

has anyone else had issue with the tacts on the Renaissance and how about that of the Studio: any issues or are the machines holding up so far?

Well I picked up my Ren finally, like two weeks ago, and when I got home and opened the box my power cord was missing. So I obviously couldn't turn the Ren on to see if everything was operating fully.

I called Long & Mcquade to tell them my power cord was missing and they said to come in and they will just give me on of their power cords. I go in of course, get this huge clunky ass power cord from them, same prong as on the mpc power cord.. go home - plug the power cord in.. boom - Mpc doesn't turn on. So without jumping to conclusions I figured it was the wrong power cord, even though the prong was the same the power specs were different.

I call them to inform them, they tell me they will order the actual power cord for the Ren from their main office.. few days go by, and I end up getting a call yesterday (5/13) saying my power cord is ready to pick up.

I go in the store and see that they have Maschine Studio's in.. I thought, **** this, grab a Studio and pick up the power cord for the Ren also. Come home, set everything up, power on the Ren and lo and behold.. the same buttons are still not working. So that's that - I'm going to call them today and let them know about that issue.

As for the Maschine Studio.. wow. Everything everyone is waiting for as to features in the Ren.. the Studio already has. I had a chance to sit down and go through and one feature that I find so convenient is the auto detect bpm feature.. so convenient.. don't even have to leave the software to throw my sample in MixMeister. Anyways, I also like the feel of the pads.. I think they are better than the Ren's but that's just me. And although the unit doesn't have a tilting screen the unit itself goes on tilt .. which I think is more of a convenience because then I can easily sit back and see everything on the unit where as on the Ren I have to sit up and lean over to see all the buttons and.. ahh it's nothing game changing but to me it is less comfortable having to do.

The Ren, at the moment, is just used as a sound card now.. lol. I don't even think I will be updating to 1.7 when it comes out as there is really no point now. I still have faith in Akai but they definitely have catching up to do.. who knows - when 1.7 comes out maybe NI will come out with an update soon after.. always one step ahead.

Just thought I'd fill you guys in on the repair though! /rambling

Long & Mcquade screwed you around and you gave them even more of your money?
:Sigh:

Except a decent sequencer. :hmmm:

Hehe.. Long & Mcquade is all I have around these parts.. It's not a big deal, I don't think they're going to make me pay a bill only to have it result in nothing.. Come back due to failure and make me pay an entirely fresh bill.. Makes no sense. If anything they will use what I paid as credit if the problem is more expensive than what I paid originally.

As for the maschine sequencer.. What's so indecent about it?
