File Error Help

So long story short I dumped some beats on to a folder on my lap top. When I put the flash card back in the MP2KXL, some of the files were saying vd.SND..Does anyone know if there's a way to recover those files? they say "file not found" when I go to load them..

here is a tip. even though in the mpc you can use any name you want.. you should try and make sure each name is 8 characters or less. For example: "12345678.SND"..

That way when you put it in your computer and it freaks out because you broke the 8 character rule, it wont "fix" the file names which is what is causing the problem.

what you can do is load each of those sounds manually from the card, and then assign them to the right pads... then in the trim screen, you can see each sound and rename them.... then delete the programs and sounds file and re-save it again.

also be sure all file extensions are in CAPS if you are messing with files on your comp! caused me some big headaches
