mavericks

so i just got the email for the free mac os 10.9 mavericks os and i comes 3 months free tech support ahhh yeaaaaa .. but i want to ask yalll should i upgrade to mpc ren mavericks also or wait till beta is finished ?

Make a bootable clone (or three) of your current system to a USB drive using super duper or similar app - check it boots fine by rebooting your Mac with the option key held down and select this USB as boot disk.

If all is working, reboot to your existing system, upgrade your OS to Mavericks. If you have problems you can use superduper to copy the old system clone back.

thx but i dont want to be a beta tester .. unless i am paid . or i know that the product works .. and out of every one who check this post . it tells me that no one has tried maverick for ren .. i only know of one person who has installed it and from what i know it drove him crazy to sell his ren .. so i will not install it but thx

It seems that InspectahRANT has issues, but he obviously had issues before the beta driver installation, and didn't bother trying to work out exactly what the problem was, it isn't really clear if the startup beep error code he was having (whatever that was) was actually directly related to the beta drivers.

3 other users in that thread said it was working fine.

I would try it, maybe with the hard drive clone first, as Tutor suggested, so you can roll back to the existing installation if it doesn't work for you.

ok as i stated b4 .. i just got info on a free os update from mac .. and as we speak i am backing every thing up with time machine .. so from your comment i mite try it .. i dont have maverick os on my mac .. so
1. will it work with out the mavericks os
2. have you installed it and did it work for you
3 has Tutor installed this and did it work for him
4. why should i install it anyways my ren works fine . is this update meant for maverick os only .. what does this driver do ,,?

I updated to mavericks without knowing it wasn't fully capable with the ren.
Let me put it like this... I wouldn't do it again. Couldn't use it in months.
Then the beta driver came...
I am an early adopter of the ren that didn't had a single crash before, now I run in to this strange small bugs 1 time out of 5, and sometime it stopps communicate with my computer...

But hey, I don't live in Syria and this is not the end of the world

No, I don't run Mavericks ATM, no point as I'm getting a new Mac in a couple of weeks so I might as well wait and then see what's what.

The driver update is for Mavericks only, so it's not even worth considering if you are running an older Mac OS. If you want to update to Mavericks and intend running the Ren on it, either use the clone technique I described or just wait until the official driver comes out. But it sounds to me like you should just stay where you are - if everything is working well, don't rock the boat.

did you pay for the apple mavericks update 10.9 ? and i will install the beta driver it to day and let you know what happens ..i have no choice

It has been free since it was released back in October last year.

No point really, if what you have now is working for you, it isn't going to make anything that much better.

thats weird i am always up to date on things …i want to update my mac os ,, so if your telling me the ren will work with out me updating to the beta driver then i wont …???? so are you saying i should not update both my mac and mpc ren ? cuz they are both working fine ,, but i wouldn't mind giving my comp a refresh .. ?

I am saying that updating your Mac to the newer version will not really make that much difference in the operation of your Mac, it is just the next point version of OS X.

If you do update to Mavericks, you will have to update the Renaissance audio driver to the beta version, for the Renaissance audio interface to work properly with Mac system sounds and applications that use the system sound output.

It is always best to hold off on updating a computer OS to the latest version, until you are sure that anything you need to use is compatible.

But it seems to be working OK for some users, so should work OK for you.

do it! I'm running Mavs with 1.6 and the new Beta driver. Very stable so far not one crash.

haa i already did it . and maverick for mac os is dope and it made my comp faster . i also loaded up the ren ,, and it works fine so i am not going to install the beta driver for it .. thx
