Turntable Issue - Signal but No Sound

I am having trouble, I recently moved and had to disconnect everything.

I had my turntable connected to my Renaissance at my old place and was able to sample from it directly into the mpc and monitor it thru my monitors.

I just set up, and I can not get sound to generate from the monitors. I see a signal on the Mic IN/Phono IN meter so I am trying to troubleshoot this issue.

In my preferences I have my output set to my duet....I've tried my Duet, MPC Renaissance for the input but can still not get any sound to generate thru the monitors...

Again I see a signal coming into the MPC when the turntable is running, just no sound....

Not sure if its a preference setting or what, any help would be great as I had this working at my old spot. Frustrating!

If trying to sample into the MPC, it should be set to the Renaissance as the input. Is it set to External and is Input Monitor turned on in the Sample Record window? Is there anything showing on the Sample Record window meters?

If not trying to sample into the MPC, and you just want to listen to the phono input, while not in the Sample Record window, have you tried turning the Direct Mon knob towards Input rather than Comp?

^^^^ What he said! Make sure all your switches are correctly. The could of moved when you moved your Ren.

In my preferences I have them set as the following:
OUTPUT: Duet (1209)
INPUT: MPC Renaissance

In the MPC/Software I have the
Input: External
Mode: Stereo
Monitor: ON

I see no meter movement in the MPC/Software, but I do see the Meters moving on the actual MPC hardware with PHONO IN selected...I can control that level with the REC GAIN knob....I know when I had it working I would use the DIRECT MON knob to control the levels...

Is the Phono/Line switch on the rear panel of the Renaissance set to Phono?

Yes it is, if turn it to Line I lose the signal on the MPC PHONO IN meters

Can you set the Renaissance to both input and output, and check if it is communicating correctly with the Renaissance audio interface, by playing some sounds out of the Renaissance main or headphone outputs?

Other than that, not really sure, someone else will have to come up with some ideas.

If I take the cables from the monitors and plug them directly into the MPC I am able to hear the turntable thru the speakers but get no meters in the software or on the MPC screen.....this is blowing my mind...

Im pretty sure I had the output/duet and input/mpc at my last setup....

putting MPC on INPUT/OUTPUT i dont even get sound thru my headphone jack...

Do you get any sound out of the Renaissance audio outputs with the Direct Mon turned all the way to Comp? If turned towards Input at all, you are hearing the turntable input being sent directly to the output, within the Renaissance, not through the computer/MPC Software.

Do you get any sound from the Renaissance audio outputs with existing MPC programs/samples, playing something from the MPC pads, auditioning samples in the MPC browser window, etc.?

If I plug the monitors into the MPC Ren. outputs I hear audio if I move the DIRECT MON to INPUT...if I move it to COMP I hear nothing....

I can not hear samples when its plugged into the outs...only when connected to the DUET.....

It seems that you are not getting any sound in or out of the Renaissance audio interface, if you are setting the input and output audio device as the Renaissance in MPC Software, and if you get no samples/etc. being played out of MPC software, or audio into MPC Software Sample Record window.

The Direct Mon knob, when turned all the way to Comp, lets you listen to only the sound coming out of the computer, and out of MPC Software, for example.

As you turn the Direct Mon knob towards Input, it is mixing the direct signal coming into the Renaissance inputs, into the Renaissance outputs, within the Renaissance internal audio interface, along with the sound coming out of the computer.

When the Direct Mon knob is turned all the way to Input, you are listening to only the direct signal coming to the Renaissance audio inputs, you will not hear any computer (MPC Software) audio output at all.

When testing problems with the audio interface communication with the computer, as you seem to be having, leave the Direct Mon knob turned all the way to the Comp side, so you are only hearing what is coming out of the computer.

Not sure what the problem is that is causing the Renaissance audio interface to not be communicating correctly with your computer, hopefully someone else might have some ideas.

You could maybe try connecting it to different USB ports on your computer, or reinstalling the Renaissance audio interface driver.

Did you make sure your switch next to the Record Gain knob was on Phono in?

Record Gain knob was turned up?

and Direct Mon knob is all the way to input?

Please check you selected it the right way round: happened to me occasionally that I set input to Saffire and output to MPC, although I wanted it the other way round...

Thank you for all of your help guys, I fixed the problem after checking the USB connection...I had the USB connected to a USB hub...once I connected it directly to the computer USB I was able to get the sound...thanks again guys

This is my exact problem that you had. Only thing is, I tried what you did (taking my MPCs USB cable and removing it from my USB Hub and plugging it directly into the computer), however I am still getting the same issue. No audio is visible (except on the Mic IN/Phono IN meter). I just received my Ren and hooked it up yesterday. Today I was trying to do the sampling from an external source (my turntable) but can't hear a thing.

Any other suggestions anyone???
