Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

I have the MPC Renaissance with 1.6 software update. Why can't I use rex files as advertised? I spent a lot of money on both the Renaissance and Studio to have a product that does not delivered what was promised. I was lied to. So basically my money was stolen from me when things like that happen. I don't take kindly to that and let me tell you, it doesn't work on both 32bit and 64bit versions of the software. I'm am surprised that when I entered the word "rex" in the search box, nothing came up. I got 20 GBs of rex files, so it's a very important aspect in my music production, that's why I bought the Renaissance because they said that it could read rex files. Maybe it worked in older versions of the software, who knows. I know it doesn't work now.

With so many .rex files, you would think that you own a copy of Recycle. I'm sure that it can export to the Akai-readable .akp format.

BTW.. I've never seen anywhere that the MPC software can read .rex files... :hmmm:

There were many videos at NAMM and on the Akai channel that talked about this before I bought the MPC. Here is an official video by Akai that talks about rex files, well that actually say rex2 files, which are the type that I have. Here is the link. It mentions this at the 1 minute point of the video.

Wow! Good catch... I normally don't pay attention to marketing hype and all that bullshit!
I go to the manual or the whore's mouth for my answers.

I think that may be Young Guru just talking out of his ass, because he was definitely paid to do those vids by Akai. Somebody forgot to proofread his script...

This is the first time I have heard anything about these .rex file shenanigans.

:hmmm: Excuse me people but I use REX files all the time. I create Rex files as well and use them in the MPC Ren. That was a big selling point for me. I'm not sure why it isn't working for you .

I would drop the rex folder in one of your Ren Favorite folders and turn the filter off. You should see them then. Ive used them from day one. and they work as they should when you change the tempo etc.

I think i See the problem here

1. He expected that the rex files would have the chops still in place...while rex files can be opened they just have to be chopped again, most of the time I still have the wav file tho" so I use that one instead, cuz the rex file still have the recycle chop effect pauses in m (sometimes makes it easier to chop cuz there are spaces between the previous chops)

2. He confuses refills with rex files or have his rex files within his refills...mpc can't open refills...and akai never said they did...i was bummed out cuz I have a lotta dope refills from when I used reason.....

this clarifying anything?

I'm not using refill files, just to make things clear. I'm using the browse feature in the MPC, so I'm getting to the files from one of my five favorite folders, so I'm doing what you say yet it doesn't work. How come you can't find anything about rex files within the instruction manual? What version of the software are you using? To tell you the truth, i do remember using rex files about a year ago. It just does work anymore. It doesn't work in version 1.6, that is for sure. What version of the software are you guys using? I want to see a video tutorial of someone using rex flies with version 1.6.

Tried that. Not working. I want to see a version 1.6 tutorial on video. I want to see what these people's rex files look like, just to verify, because i've done everything. Once again why don't they mention rex files in the instruction manuals? But Akai mention rex files everywhere else. Makes no sense. Have them explain that. Maybe it just doesn't work with version 1.6 on a Mac. Maybe it works on Windows.

Because the user manual is shit?

They already know it is shit, but not a priority for them.

Tried It, All Works...u do have To select no filter, and It seems that the Original rex fule chops do remain :smoker: so thats Nice....saves a ton of allready done work...but anyway it does work, I tried 8 different rex files loaded from a external hard drive...check if the files are even, there, browse through them with this computer?
