Thank you MPC-Tutor for describing the bigger picture on pricing. There is a lot time and effort and money invested to continue bringing products us gear heads. I too have bought from mpcstuff, jazzcat, and mpcstoragesolution and vst service to name a few. Some of the hardware out there has really become scarce and I pay it because it is hard to find and I cannot afford to stop my work flow.

Ron Jay, you got an awesome deal and a steal on that MPC2000 with the non hot swap card reader, which by the way I recognize as mpcstoragesolution. I have one just like it and you can use up to 16GB cf cards. They do not sell these anymore and only have the hot-swap versions. You will be able to store quite a bit of samples on one card. A feat of this way, you would think deserve to be recognised outside of just the MPC audience for just all it takes to pull off! From an engineering standpoint. I'm excited to see the prototypes

hot swap == cf cards can be inserted and removed anytime without powering down card reader. This is beneficial if your files are spread across several different cf cards and you can work without interruption.

non hot swap == cf card must be inserted into card reader before powering on and cannot be removed until reader is powered off. this can be a problem if your work is spread across several cf cards. since cf card cannot be removed, all your files must be on that one card so you can work on your stuff without interruption.

i get it. but couldn't i go to my main screen before powering off the card reader, swap cards then power it back on before going back to my disk menu to load from the second disk? it doesn't seem like a huge inconvenience. thanks for the info too

I do not think you can do that. If you turn off the no swap card reader yes you can swap cf card but when you power it back on the card reader will not be recognized. Remember, before booting up a sampler any and all scsi drives connected to sampler must be powered on first so that it cycles thru all scsi id s to determine what drives are available. you can check with mpcstoragesolution.com and they can shed more light on your idea.

Also, do not remove cf card when no swap card reader is on because you may risk losing data or damage to the card making it un-usable.

I returned it. Just a word of caution to any selling on ebay; Pack your shit up nice before you send it off. no use blowing your seller rating because you thought your buyer wouldn't return a busted piece of shit. anyway, I got one coming with a 16gig external HD and a good looking screen. Hope the seller was liberal with the bubble wrap...

And he was liberal with the bubble wrap. The 16g external is wonderful and the screen has no lines and with a slight contrast adjustment looks perfect.

I payed $400 total for the MPC 2000 and the MPC storage solutions external HD
The drives sell for $125 + s/h. That puts the cost of the MPC at $275.
I will take a Q-tip to the buttons and clean the rubber pads, swap the screen out and replace the broken 7 button. Then resell it for $300.
So I got the screen free instead of for $275 which was the cost of an entire MPC. I understand running a business and the price this guy is selling screens for is BS

It's turning a profit. Same thing you just described, is similar.
