Funny I was looking on this forum while simultaneously thinking about the Roland FA-06. I did notice that it's pads are NOT velocity sensitive. I wanted to know how the OP feels about that.

didn't bother me, when I bang on an mpc or maschine 98.6% of the time I got Full Level on anyways. I haven't looked on the Roland forums but Im sure Roland will give that OS a few updates, honestly can't wait to see if they do and what they add. Still want to get the FA again down the line, the sounds in that thing were amazing, like every sound was usable to me, each sound sounded like it could make a dope song on its own, I could pick any sound and it would fit easy into a any hip hop r&b or pop track, like official official big sound, and not like cheesy rehashes of the same synth keyboard sounds, very modern and new sounding patches. I guess it was the integra sounds, and I thought the fantom x/g had dope sounds lol this thing is killer. It's only missing a few things that would prevent me from using it completely standalone.

I'd imagine both maschine studio n ren are on par in terms of build quality...both are combinations of metal and plastic...neither has true metal face plate, only metal plated top layer, mechanics behind button design is probably better on maschine.

I tried the Maschine Studio for the first time this weekend... Those who says its better built than the ren must be joking, for real...

After all the fuzz about Maschine and this and that on this forum being a better Maschine then the mpc, i was exited and open minded for what it wold bring. Maybe you have to play with it a bit longer than i did, but my friend who owns it explained for me what it does. He is thinking about switching to a mpc ren actually, the main reason was that the ren doesn't feel that much of a toy, and have a workflow that fits him much better.

The software layout looked nice tho... But thats pretty much all

I prefer maschine build b cause you're really not going to break anything unless you treat it a lot less than fair. The Ren has those suspect buttons that are infamous for getting stuck over the years.

Anyhow you'll soon realize that the sounds are much better. Especially the drums from the expansions. As for the software, people will see it different all the time. Be sure to learn it good before you decide you don't like. Don't be like my friend who gave up after a week because he's not "computer literate".

you have to filter out biased opinions, OP for example had pic of mpc before he switched to maschine, now he got maschine you can tell he's running with whatever he get...

Depends how you use stuff..

For intergration with synths and vsti instruments, library browsing for in house samples , maschine wins hands down... Especially using from the controller...
maschines 2.0 mixing is better. The routing is basically anywhere to anywhere... and now has the addition for sidechaining certain plugs..

There are other things that i can't be bothered comparing but the main thing for me why i stick with mpc is the seq song workflow..

A song can be a set list. in one prject for a live set. Each seq is a beat or song.. each with their own time sigs and tempos...

Maschine can't do this.. So it's really only a studio tool,(unless you do the whole set live with pad bashing without running a sequence)

I feel both controllers are on par with each other each having their own strengths..

maschine studio having large full color screens..
ren having audio i/o ...

Also a bonus for me doing stuff live is having a built in interface..

For all its faults the ren felt better to me.......

She already has a copy of Studio One and never uses it. She likes to keep it simple (and writes pretty good music on Maschine) which is why she just sticks with Maschine (though we do have Komplete 9 Ultimate as well). I usually end up working with her on the final mix in Cubase 7.5. She's got this thing where she likes to be in the bed under the blankets while she's making music, don't know if that huge system would be conducive to that.

Very lucky man. My wife also bought me a gang of gear when she settled a case. She spent 12G's on me. I'll never give her up.
