Choosing a DAW to use on my laptop w/mpc 1000

So iv made some nice beats I want to upload on my 1000

Whats the easiest way to go about getting them on my laptop?

I have a USB cable but it just imports all the sounds separately when iv tried.

Iv seen a few vids on youtube that show a guy using 'Ableton' and he loads his beats through there with a midi/usb cable.

So if someone could please tell me what they think a good DAW for beginners is and a description on how they get their beats from their mpc to the laptop Id very much appreciate it!

any DAW will be daunting to a noob, you just have to keep learning and persevere. so just choose the one you fancy and watch some youtube tutorials or join the DAW's company run forum.

you could record the analog outs of your mpc into the analog ins of your sound card. thats one way of doing it.

you could connect the stereo digital 'spdif' out to your soundcard's spdif input. this is a bit cleaner because the signal stays digital but its only stereo. at least you can solo each track if you need to.

some people i think will use the analog outs into a mixing board with maybe some effects units or compressors etc. along with any synths youre triggering over midi and then the output from that will go into a DAW.

Ahh just gets more complicated. So I need to buy a soundcard? Then from there I will be able to send full tracks onto my laptop?

hey it all depends on how deep you wanna go into the rabbit hole.

your laptop has a built in sound card that may be well enough for you mate

also many laptops come with spdif built in already. you gotta find out

dont forget you can resample the output and save it to the hdd or cf card and then use usb to transfer the file to the computer.

I dont even understand what that means iv had the mpc for a few months and am the only one I know who makes beats. Sorry if I seem really slow. Could you explain that last part in more depth please?

Do you mean I sample from the phone jack? Sample the sampler? Then upload that sample as a whole?

If so that would make sense but I dont wanna plug my mpc into itself and break it or something. So yeah leme know if thats what you mean ill give that a go and thanks again for the help so far!

not sure how it works on the akai os.

basically the idea is you go to the record screen and adjust the input till it says 'main out' then hit play and sample the output of the machine... sample your sequence / song or any single track so you can put it back together in the DAW... make sense?

or is resampling not a feature on the akai os? i have no clue. i wouldnt make a song with that POS anyway
