What should i use with a MPC2000xl?

I purchased a MPC2000xl about 2 years ago and i'm finally ready to get it repaired and get a setup going. I'm curious to know what other equipment i should use to go with it. I'm new to all of this and ready to learn! thanks in advance!

That's quite an open ended question, perhaps let us know a bit about your existing set up? What studio equipment do you currently have and what are you trying to do? Create completed songs (mixed and mastered) or just write tunes entirely within an MPC? Going to use a computer?

Some specifics would definitely help, but you'll probably want something to record your music on, whether that's a hardware disk recorder, tape machine, or computer. Once you have those things & some sound/sample sources, you're pretty much set!

An MPC, decent monitor speakers, sound source such as turntable/CD player/cassette or headphone jack of a PC or iPad and an EQ/preamp is all you really need to get started. Then later you can get a keyboard synth and other studio equipment if you think you need it. If not then keep what you got.

samples usually work pretty good with your MPC2000xl

mixer is good too. gonna come handy in more ways than one
