Hi y'all.I just bought an mpc 60 and i have a problem with the floppy drive. The thing is that when i am putting a disk to the drive and try to save a sound or something , i get the message "There is no floppy disk in the drive .Please insert a disk".When i try to format a disk i get the message "The disk is write protected".Also the floppy disk drive has always the red light on but when i am inserting a disk it turns off.I have the 3.1 os.Any kinf of help would be apreciated.

this is also true but what do you check the jumpers against, can you provide us with a diagram to use for a model. I have been playing around with the jumpers on two different drives. Neither drive will format, but both drives will do everything else i.e, save, load, erase, rename, and etc. The funny thing is that one drive is the old floppy from my 2000XL the other I bought from Route66, they still have'nt helped me fix the problem and on top of that I think he's trying to stall me out on my warranty :( Anyway, Milando if you know something about the jumpers please enlighten us.

thanks,
D. James

yeah that's who I've been communicating with, he said my jumpers were in the wrong spots and he would send me the right placements so I'm just waiting to hear back, but conveniently enough my 30 day warranty is up in a week.

tell him you want an RA# so you can send it back immediately...

tell him to send you a brand new floppy that works, and ask him to include the correct jumper settings on this new floppy... ROUTE 66 cant be that big of a company, tell this dude that he should be able to send you a floppy that will work upon installation, he can do the jumpers correctly for you before he sends it if he knows how they should go... dont let these dudes play games with you... just let him know what machine and OS version it is and tell him to configure the floppy drive jumpers for you before shipping the new drive... it should be simple enough if he knows what hes doing, which hed better...
