2000 files in a 3000?

Alright so looked up and down the website and the internet for this - I'm trying to load 2000xl programs and midi files, based on the mpc3000 website if I load up the program in the MPCEDITOR it'll convert the 2000 program into a 3000 one and it should work. I tried this multiple times - not even the .snd files from the 2000 will load into my 3000. If anyone knows whats the deal let me know, much thanks

After you load the 2000xl programs into MPC editor, are you clicking " export programs and samples " with "MPC3000" ticked in the dialog box that pops up ?

With the MIDI files have you tried just sticking them on a floppy and loading them into the MPC3000, without using MPC editor ?

yes I exported program and samples with the 3000 clicked, but I didn't export the midi file through the editor - is that even possible? regardless its the program and the samples that are the biggest problem

Don't think so.
What did you try to get MIDI files to load ?

Are you running an old os on your MPC ?

Not sure why it does this but,... a workaround is to save your program and sounds from the mpc2000XL.
On the computer make wave files from the snd files ( wavsnd is good for this), the names should be the same (although don't worry if they are a different case) and replace the original snd files with the wavs you just made.
Load your program into MPC Editor. It should also load the wave files you made.

Now export as MPC3000 format and load the result into the MPC3000.

It's not pretty but it should work for you.
I use this for the mpc2000 classic so something similar should work for the XL


If you are having trouble getting the sequence (.mid) files to work, make sure TYPE is set to DRUM in the main window.

Mitch, I didn't load up the midi file because my sounds weren't even working you know? Pilchard, that sounds great I'm gonna try that thank you!

I'm pretty sure wavsnd allows you to batch convert to save you doing them individually . Can't remember how I have done this before but I guess you just select all the files and drag the whole lot into wavsnd. A little experimentation may be necessary, otherwise it works perfectly well one by one.

What happened was I did it, but I converted them in Audacity because it exports in .wav. I forgot that you have to "import raw" into Audacity before doing this, or it will double the sample and do some weird stuff with the .snd file - but for the most part, yes, thank you!

actually it seems that audacity is messing some of the snd's still - I downloaded the wavsnd.exe but it's not working for me, I keep dragging files to it but it doesn't open, and when I right click that doesn't work either

It doesn't open. You just use it as is.
Drag a .snd file onto it and a .wav will be created in the same folder or location, on your computer.
Drag a .wav onto it and it will produce a .snd.

It's a really simple app, you are expecting it to be more complex.

Yeah I realized that when the files were just popping up in the folder lol - They still are distorting my samples though, it pitches them up and doubles them for some reason
