NEWS Flash!! New MPC concept shown at Build 2014

The future is looking good! Maybe the MPC I've been waiting for will be created in my lifetime after all lol.

I'm the type of person that will wait till the bugs are worked out before I buy, but on this one I will have no problem being a (Early buyer/Beta Tester) Bring it on! I can see it now... My powered monitors the new MPC with all my VST's installed with NO laptop or USB cable connected. Complete Studio power for production with nothing else needed but the MPC and a creative mind.

I think it looks amazing! Sadly, wouldn't suit me or my workflow (or budget lol) at all, but as a machine and for others I think it looks dope, and the potential is immense.

Nah, doubt it, open in that Akai can rework it to be the MPC OS, rather than Microsoft, not open so that anyone can rework it once it is the MPC OS.

Not going to get much processing power out of a tablet CPU.

Can't even see if anything real is happening on the screen, and only plays one pad/sample, proof of concept as Tutor says is more likely.

Looks like just a small tablet bolted onto a Renaissance, in place of the Renaissance LCD, maybe with the RJ45 port being an extension of the tablet connectors so they are still accessible externally.

Black/red colour scheme looks good, hope they do that as a Renaissance LE.

ren chassis might be too flat for a standalone unit imo. cpu probably needs more space inside in order not to overheat. where´s the fan?

Where's the fan in an iPad? An iPad CPU would kill any other processor in other MPCs.

I agree about the size though. They need to bump it up a bit.

My two computers for music have 16 and 64 GB of ram and great i7 processors, so I can load vsts, Samples or whatever, and work with various apps opened etc.
I know it is a prototype but I don't think the inside DAW idea would be in any beneffit, nor having the computer embedded.
I don't know why people can think of this as a hardware MPC and not a controller, cos controllers and hardware mpcs are basicaly the same, only in the ren/studio/maschine I get to choose my computer's power.
Going to bed with microsoft is the thing that makes me have doubts about this future product.
When I got the maschine mk1 I thought, finally a controller that meet my needs and I can use my laptop and computer's storage, etc... but it was not breaking with meworkflow whise, and still made beats with the m1k, then the ren was the controller I was waiting for to ditch the mk1, it has the workflow that I like, although it has things to be added and things to be rethinked it is a more natural jump to me.
Now Akai is doing the same thing but with embeded tablet that is a WINDOWS TABLET. I know some guys here in the forum are running the studio with the surface 2 pro and it is ok with them, but I wouldn't go this way. Surface 2 with 8 gb of ram and a core i5 precessor is in the 1300-1800$ price range. How much would this MPC cost if I want real power on it?
Just a reflexion that came to my head...

I doubt this will be based on the Renaissance chasis if this does ever come out. I would bet that they would make a hardware chassis specifically for this product.

there's been more problems with the MPC software and mac than MPC software and windows reported on this site. His exact words at 40 seconds in the video: We've opened sources so other people can work on it. Maybe im missing something here.

It will most likely have a i5 or i7 processor running 8.1. The surface pro2 is a i5. Not open?? At the 40 second mark and the 117 second mark of the video sounds like it will be open for developers.

Proprietary. No usb cable slowing things down. All in = faster processing. Less latency.

This MPC is a lot bigger than a Surface pro2 that has an i5.

This is Microsoft saying it is open for developers like Akai to embed it in their own products.

Not open to whoever wants to modify it once Akai have embedded it in an MPC.
