Yes, the OS is open for developers, but once Akai embed the OS and the MPC application in the hardware, it will no longer be open, it will undoubtedly get locked down to any further third party development.

I'm pretty sure they use Windows Embedded in things like EPOS machines (credit card payments etc) - these are completely closed systems.

So while JJ could develop his own Windows Embedded app, he wouldn't be able to install it in the MPC hardware (not without hacking it), he'd have to develop his own hardware.

Not much to show or see here really. It's just a black MPC Ren case with a tablet bolted to the screen which could happen in theory.

Not something AKAI are officially releasing.

That aside, the black really looks good on the MPC case and having a Ren run with a self powered tablet attached would be great, especially for live shows (portability)

So nothing to see but food for thought all the same.

Now where's version 1.7? :P

but if u you dont have 1.7 by the 20th , u owe me something idk what but u do .. and only me not the other forum members haaa .. we made a deal that u would have the os done every 3- 6 moths .. and trust me i know things can change and things happen . BUT a deal is a deal :) i keep my word not only did i buy the mpc studio .. i also upgraded to the ren .. thx and enjoy ya day :) ps what did u do to dan .. by the looks of him .. he looks like hes doing all the work over there .. step ya game up pete . and give dan a day off :)

not something that looks very interesting to me, but it is windows so it would be easy to do something "different" with it if you wanted to and some decent skills. but its not much different than having a mpc and a computer today. except both of those that I have are really good at what they do and dont need to be simplified or made less powerful to be smaller. at least for me. of course Im cool with proven classic OG mpcs anyway so I couldnt imagine spending scratch on this or a ren instead of something more useful to me.

oh yea when u say 1.7 software, 1.8, 1.9 and beyond we want 1.8 and 1.9 to be like 1.7 .. no baby update like 1.6 u ant slick :) its simple give us what we want and we will shut up its a win win . we are giving you a cheat code . all you have to do is come to this forum and apply what we want ... :) this is what i want in 2025 i will be old and lazy by then so i want the mpc to read my mind and make the beat for me .. i dont want to touch any pads .. thx .. hahahaahahaha . u heard it here first !!!!!!
