wassaup ppl!?! I just finished getting a Triton I got from Ebay fixed. I was all excited to start playing with my new big boy toy when I had an epic fail!!! I got it MIDI'd (not a real word I know) but here's my prob. I haven't figured out how to hear the sounds of my Triton Pro. I connected the outs of the Triton to the ins on the Ren, when I hit the keys, the meter on the Ren lights up and the MIDI notes are in the track window. but when I play it back NO SOUND!! WTF?!?!?! I have to use Directsound cuz I don't have speakers to connect to the audio outs of the Ren, that's why I don't use ASIO. what am I doing wrong. ran into same prob trying to sample from my American DJ DJ1 cd player. on the 2500 I routed things thru the imputs and just had to press the input thru button to hear whatever sound source I was running. is there a similar function on the Ren and if so where? thnx y'all!

ok here's the update!! just got off the phone with Mike from Akai cust serv and here's what he told me...... CANH"T DO IT IN STANDALONE MODE!!! not a feature!! have to open up the Ren software up as a plug-in in a full fledged DAW to track out my MIDI! only way I can do what I want is to actually sample the sounds, oh well. so I'm SOL it seems

:hmmm: I don't understand what you are saying you want to do, why you can't do it, or what he told you.

If you want to hear the Triton audio, when connected to the Renaissance, mix the Input (Triton) sound in with the Computer (MPC Software) sound, using the Direct Mon knob.

If you want to play back MIDI from the MPC sequencer into the Triton, you have to connect the MIDI output of the MPC to the MIDI input of the Triton.

You have Soundcard build in the ren with asio ?just use it ..

Make sure that if you are in the, sample menu turn on monitoring

The Direct Mon knob on the Renaissance performs this same function as Input Thru on the MPC2500.

ok let me try to be clearer....I was trying to hear the sounds from the Triton in a seq on the Ren. so why don't I use the ASIO driver? well using that is only for when you're using the Ren connected to a mixer or speakers connected to it to hear sound, I"M USING MY LAPTOP"S SPEAKERS! in the audio tab you have to set your output, so if since I'm doing audio over USB that's the setting I have to have. the other part, Mike told me what I want to do is not a feature @ this time , took my email address and put it as a requested feature in the future. he said that to do what I want to do, I have to open the software up as a plug-in in a DAW, so I can use aux tracks, or instr or whatever the DAW calls them, cuz only the MIDI event is showing up in the track where I hit the keys, but it's not rec the audio. so again I know how to set up my equipment, but the Ren won't do what I'm trying cuz IT"S NOT A FEATURE CURRENTLY IN STANDALONE MODE!!! like I said it sucks but I'm glad to find out it's not user error which was why I asked in the 1st place. the end of my update I said I have to SAMPLE, which would work, cuz it would record the sound but it's not how I want to work. with my 2500 that would be possible, not with the Ren

So it doesn't work for you, because you listen through your laptop speakers.

Most Renaissance users would listen through their Renaissance outputs, so it would work for them.

no it doesn't work for me CUZ IT"S NOT A FEATURE IN STANDALONE MODE!!!!! LOL! as I've said in this post and the other where you're trying to tell the guy abt syncing his Fantom. Ren software IS NOT A FULL DAW!! I'm using this as a temp setup. my studio stuff including my Tascam FW interface, my Digi 002, my AP 1010lt, 192, and 24/96, Alesis Fusion 8HD, Alesis Ion, Juno-D, and other things along with my comp with the 16 gig ram 2 tb hd and fw card is in storage. with Maschine what I'm talking abt is poss just not with the Ren software @ the moment. just cuz you post alot doesn't mean what you say is automatically correct! so let's agree to disagree cuz you're reading what we're trying to accomplish incorrectly. in the MIDI tab when you mark the box that's just allowing you to use that device to rec the MIDI data, not the audio, that's why you can use VSTs but not the devices in the tracks. what's so hard to get man?? anyway it is what it is so we'll let it go @ that ok? but according to AKAI it's not possible currently. if you doubt call em

It is possible to record the audio from an external device into the Renaissance as a sample.

You don't know what you are talking about, and you probably were unable to communicate properly to Akai about what you wanted to achieve, based on not knowing what you are talking about, just as you were unable to communicate your actual problem in the thread you created.

As MPCHolland said, you can sequence an external MIDI device from an MPC Sequence, and record it's audio output, into MPC Software, as a sample, in standalone mode. It doesn't matter how many times you say it, what you are saying is wrong.

You just can't have it automatically synced up with your MPC sequence, you have to manually place the new sample into the MPC sequence.

If you want to continue with your ignorance, that is fine, just don't expect that you will not be called out on it.

The OP in this thread is just trying to get MIDI output from an MPC Sequence to trigger sounds in his Fantom, not record it as a sample at this stage, that is also possible, but there is something wrong in his setup or workflow that is preventing it.

You are reading what he is trying to accomplish incorrectly.

OMFG DUDE!!! WHAT PART OF WHAT I SAID IS CONFUSING YOU??????? if you pay attn to all I've said I NEVER SAID YOU COULDN"T SAMPLE THE SOUNDS!!!!! that is the only way to do it actually!!! but working with a SAMPLE is totally diff than STEP RECORDING!!! I know what I'm talking abt, the real question is CAN YOU READ??? lol. you even said in the other post you can't do it so what's your issue?

The OP in the Fantom thread is not trying to record anything, he is just trying to trigger sounds in his Fantom from an MPC Sequence.

That is possible.

You don't even know what STEP RECORDING is, that is NOT recording a sample and having it automatically synced with an existing sequence.

First you were going on about not being able to hear sound from the external MIDI device, then it was about not being able to record it, now it is something to do with step recording.

You have no idea, and are unable to communicate effectively.

WTF??? ok 1st step rec is when you set a certain amount of bars, it loops and each pass you do something different!!! got that? he's using his Fantom as a sound mod. the MPC seq doesn't trigger the sounds CUZ REN SOFTWARE IS NOT A FULL FLEDGED DAW JACKASS!!! it recs the MIDI event but won't trigger the sounds CUZ IT"S NOT POSSIBLE IN STANDALONE MODE!!!! he's saying his seqs aren't synchin with the Ren the remedy for that is to go in the tab and mark how he want's his devices to communicate. MTC is popular but really only needed if you trying to sync the audio with vid. MMC is good all around. if he goes in the send and receive tab he can set it up but again MIDI IS NOT AUDIO JACKASS!!! btw when he says seq, he means all the passes from STEP RECORDING!! like I said just cuz you post a bunch of times doesn't mean you're an expert. like my mother always told me, if you think education is expensive, try ignorance. don't be mad @ me cuz Canada is whipping your ass in TUF!!! btw. it's all connected stupid. don't talk smack. I been doin stuff since I was a kid splicing cassette tapes with a razor blade to make mixes before you were born

DJ Talk wrote:WTF??? ok 1st step rec is when you set a certain amount of bars, it loops and each pass you do something different!!! got that?

No, it isn't.

DJ Talk wrote:he's using his Fantom as a sound mod. the MPC seq doesn't trigger the sounds CUZ REN SOFTWARE IS NOT A FULL FLEDGED DAW JACKASS!!! it recs the MIDI event but won't trigger the sounds CUZ IT"S NOT POSSIBLE IN STANDALONE MODE!!!!

It is possible to send MIDI note on/off messages, to trigger an external MIDI sound device, from MPC Software, in standalone mode.

DJ Talk wrote:he's saying his seqs aren't synchin with the Ren the remedy for that is to go in the tab and mark how he want's his devices to communicate. No, he is just trying to play his Fantom, from his Renaissance, using MIDI note on/off messages. He is not trying to sync anything.

MTC can be used for syncing an audio device with another audio device.

MMC does not sync anything, except for the presses of transport controls of different devices.

DJ Talk wrote:btw when he says seq, he means all the passes from STEP RECORDING!!

No, you need to learn what step recording in an MPC, and other recording devices, actually is.

DJ Talk wrote:like I said just cuz you post a bunch of times doesn't mean you're an expert. like my mother always told me, if you think education is expensive, try ignorance.

So you tried ignorance, you seem to have become an expert at it, and look at how that is working out for you.

DJ Talk wrote:don't be mad @ me cuz Canada is whipping your ass in TUF!!! btw. it's all connected stupid. don't talk smack. I been doin stuff since I was a kid splicing cassette tapes with a razor blade to make mixes before you were born

Since before I was born? OK then, whatever you think.

Splicing cassette tapes with a razor blade has obviously taught you nothing about using an MPC.

Maybe you should try to not be DJ Talk Shit so much, and try being DJ Read and Learn a little, for a change?
