bad .wav format (406)

huh? er...not sure what the 4k's problem is but according to every other piece of gear i have that can read wave files this one is perfectly fine.

anybody got some insight? sample rate and bit depth are identical. sample created in ableton. copying file directly from hard drive to usb stick and then into mpc. this normally works just fine.

upload it to dropbox so we can take a look

I have run into this problem with the sample being too short sometimes

this one is ~40 seconds long, so i don't think brevity is the problem here.

ah...so i believe the problem is the bit depth. the samples were recorded in ableton and are therefore 32-bit (floating). i reckon the mpc doesn't know what to do with them since it operates at 16 or 24 bits. no real point to having 32 bit samples, so i'll not make this mistake again.

its a wonder lap dog didnt chime in with a smart ass response here. i asked the same question more or less and he made a show of telling me to read the manual. you got off easy lol

the reason i asked the question in the first place was so people like you could find it in a search if you didnt wanna pick up the manual.

I even asked it myself previously. Jim, you are correct. It has to do with the file not being a compatible type. (Due to bit-depth or sample rate)

It would be nice if Akai published info about these error codes and why they occur but that would be too much like right.

yes, it would certainly be helpful. however, in this case it's something stupid that ableton live does (the "looper" device records at 32-bit regardless of your preferences --> record --> bit depth setting, which in my case is set to 24-bit). this is why i was surprised that all of a sudden my normally-compatible files wouldn't work.
