Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Does anyone know a faster or better way to tune the sound on each pad? Sometimes when I’m making a beat I will mess with the tune of my sample and would like to tune each pad, but the only way I’ve found how to do it is by using the qlink and assigning tune to each pad and going to each pad to tuning it. It’s time consuming at times. Maybe I’ve missed it, but if I could I would like to select all pads at once and tune one time instead of 16 times or more.

good question.. I am curious to see the answers. That was one of the things I researched when I was deciding which controller to buy. With Maschine it's easy to do..

not only is it time consuming, it messes up the entire vibe.. I usually adjust the pitch of a sample many times before I find a sound I like

Select All??? In program edit, and then tune...now It's affecting all of your chops/pads...this goes for many edit....bottom screen says current /zone/ all...select all before tweaking...p"z....
you could have figured this out, if u weren't busy comparing, and b*tching over your gear/toys....
I kinda get fatigue of this kinda post, and remember I'm a critic from time to time...

who you talking too?
doesn't seem like anybody is b*tching and complaining here.. I am just talking in general on how much of a vibe killer it would be to adjust pads individually. I don't own a Renaissance, but couldn't find any videos about this topic on youtube.

Thank you, now people know

I know about the select all feature. I'll try it again when I get home, but when I used tune with the qlink and compared it to tune with the program edit it sounds different. Just to make sure I'm doing it right. The semi and fine under Master is the tune right?

@choppie usage of words like vibe killer, and saying messes up the whole vibe, while these remarks aren't relevant, since its not only possible but easy and fast, and we still on the mpc forum, last time I checked..... Criticize but gets your facts right...this is senseless bashing

step your research game up then....stop assumptions...i can't and wont say a bad word bout NI cuz I don't own or use it, so why should u?

@jig hope it works for you,,glad if I could help...

that is in reference to the way I make music, which had nothing to do with Renaissance, was simply stating that it would be difficult for me to do music if it didn't have that option to tune multiple pads

I did.. that is why I bought Maschine Studio and nowhere did I say Renaissance CAN'T do this, I just simply put that I am curious to see the answers, somebody clearly wasn't paying attention. If I wanted to bash Akai I will.. most of y'all on here do it anyway...

I am sorry but ya'll misunderstood what I was saying, just had to clear that up

It's All good, Love...
but jiggy... Yes you"re doing it right...the only downside COULD be when u forget to select all prior to tweaking...but then again I shouldn't smoke so much, and remember to select all first  but this at least gives u the option not to affect all pads/chops perse...
dont forget bout that 16-level button in Your ren, To quickly check out, tweak, play and record variations of tune, velocity, etc. Per pad, 16-level.... could be your best friend...especially for intro outro's bridges, super fast way of working...
64-bit is Rock solid, 32-bit is far from it...but the only real complaints are limitations and seemed unfinished features and hardware accessibility, and not making full use if its potential..like audio tracks, multicore, bridge 32/64 vst's, audio tracks, global mixer, and less workarounds for FX automation...
can't judge for maschine studio yet, imma check it out in a store sometime.... Ain't no rich boy....

As far as I know (it's been a while since I've used my Ren), if you are in Prog Edit mode the Tune knob is in some consistent location on the 16 Qlinks. So if you want to quickly tune a set of 16 pads, go to Prog Edit mode tap the pad you want to tune, turn the knob, then tap another pad and turn that same knob (it will be tune for every pad). So if you want to adjust their relative tune just tap the pad and turn the knob.

The only option to tune them with 2 hands or at the same time in other words is to manually assign the QLINKS to tune for each pad on the main QLINK page of the program.

Nope...
Just select ALL and the Whole pitch of the program can Be changed, i believe the second top q-link is tune and the third top qlink is fine tune...and if You select ALL in the bottom of Your screen ( says current/zone/all) You change tune of ALL pads in the program at once...just do It immediatly before u start tweaking else you're f*cked..

stop the anti-paganda
:-D

Right, but I was talking about tuning pads with different tunings at the same time not all with the same tuning.

a basic but very important feature to have. When I was looking up Ren videos, everybody who was making sample hip hop beats kept the sample at the original pitch.. so I was wondering.. there has to be a way to do this

@MPCHolland053 we good dawg  lol

Another question since you mentioned it. Pitch and Tune on the Ren are different things right? Just want to make sure I'm understanding it right.

I don't own a Ren..
but this was the video I saw.. and I was like there gotta be a way to do multiple pads

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGS7788kBbk

I think they are slightly different..

Tune - adjusts the tempo and the pitch of the sample
Pitch - adjusting pitch of a sample keeping the tempo the same

That's my take on it anyway

Tuning originally was changing the pulling of strings to their appropriate pitch, to achieve equal temperament and a good relative tuning. Equal temperament, in short, allows you to play the same song in a different key with an equally proportional tuning, allowing the song to sound just as good.

Pitch raising is the process of raising the pitch of the whole piano/guitar/violin etc.

in the mpc software I think tuning applies to chops within a program, and pitching applies to the complete unchopped sample....

p'z make sum music and post sum...
