Question about software installation and the Ren....

I'm thinking about installing all my Ren software plus VST's on a second computer as a back-up , do I have to "mirror" the exact same VST file placement that's on my current PC for the Ren to properly play my tracks on the 2nd?

My VST's installed all over the place and I want to be more organized on my 2nd PC.

I assume once the Ren discovers the VST it doesn't matter what folder I put the data in right?

You say you run a PC.


So you could make a copy of Disk Image. I'm am not sure if Microsoft natively runs a backup utility, as image file. (Disk Image is a disk image software that makes an exact copy of any PC disks (HDD, SSD, USB, CD, DVD, Blu-ray etc.) and stores it into a folder.)


Perhaps there are other companies offering the same type of software. But from personal experience I used this brand, when I had PC's.

I recently installed Windows 8.1 via VMware and Parallels, and on a natively dedicated Bootcamp partition.


For Mac OSX users the solution is Time Capsule.

U put the VSTs where you want and tell mpc software where to look... I put ALL my VSTs in 1 of 2 folders... one labeled vst64 and other vst32... regardless the VST or app it's tired to. in all my audio software, i point to those 2 directories... even works from external drive than i can move from system to system....

So I understand the ' all over the place' frustration.

The mpc hardware does not store VST locations, nor anything else, that is in software. So on new PC, you set that in software and should be good
