I figured out how to record track mutes on the 500 a couple of weeks ago. Maybe someone here can get some use out of the idea.

Make a track that loops nice.
Let's say it's a 4 bar loop
It's got tracks 1-5 like kick, hat, snare, bass, and piano
The tracks will all need to use the same program
Let's say you want to make a 16 bar verse with live track mutes
Use the copy bar feature to make 3 copies of the 4 bars on the end of the sequence
Now you have a 16 bar sequence

Here's the trick
Set track 1-5 to midi channel 1
Switch to track 6, set program to off and set track type to midi and set midi channel to 1
Now take a midi cable and connect it to both the midi in and out of the mpc. Yes, it will be sending midi to itself.
Make sure you are still on track 6, then switch to track mute mode
Hit record and play start and get your track mute thing on

Now the midi from tracks 1-5 is recorded on track 6.

Copy track 6 to a new sequence, set the program and there you have it. :smoker:

Man, I always had a feeling that one can trick the system into recording track mutes. You did it holmes! Pat yourself on the back and have a cold one on the house. Tell 'em Ill sent you. Take a White Owl too bro. I'm dead serious, bravo!

Not possible (or rather wasn't possible) in the box.
