Where did you purchase the samples from? Here on MPC-SAMPLES.com? if so you need to load the PGM file in order for the samples to Load automatically to the pads. If there is no PGM file then you will have to manually assign them and create your own PGM. Hope that helps.

Well guys thanks for your responses. I order the sounds from MPC-sample.com and there are some PGM files. Some of those files looks like a doc with one corner folded. And some of the PGM files look like a rectangle box. But after I load these files I get no sounds from the pads. Do you think something is wrong with the MPC unit?

The PGM files are program files, they tell the MPC which sounds are assigned to which MPC pads, and some other settings to go with that.
The PGM files do not contain any sounds, they need the sound files that go with the PGM file.
When loading the PGM program file into the MPC, it should automatically load the sound files which are used within that program.
Do you have the sound files on the CF card, along with the PGM file, when trying to load the PGM file?
Since the MPC500 only has 12 pads, instead of 16 pads like most other MPCs, it might not load up all the sounds correctly onto the pads.
Have you tried loading the sound files themselves, one at a time, and assigning them to the pads in the MPC?

Since you bought from MPC-SAMPLES you should be able to to play them instantly from the pads.
If you haven't already you need to press the MODE button + PAD 2 in order to LOAD your Program and samples
Then you can choose which folder to LOAD from. First use the Cursor to highlight the folder section, then you would use the DATA wheel to scroll through and select which folder to LOAD from.
Use the CURSOR left and right arrow to enter and exit folders.
It should look a little something like this for example
Load: Program
Fld: Kicks
then you will have to press the DO IT button which also is labeled 12 LEVELS
your samples will now be loaded and ready to play.
Once you have loaded multiple Programs from individual folders such as KICK, SNARE, HAT
Press TRACK, then PARAMS button in order to PROGRAM ASSIGN a different Program per track.
Alright I don't think I can break it down for you anymore. Good Luck.

Are the PGM files, that you received from MPC-sample.com, organised into folders along with sample/sound files in WAV or SND format?
Are you copying the WAV or SND files, that are in the same location as the PGM files, to the CF card, so that they are in the same location on the CF card as the PGM file, when you try to load the PGM file?
