So im working on a beat and I try to delete track 7, so I go to the track params but when I press 'DO IT' I get this message....
'CPU Addr (read)
PC(884b1a2e)'

...and it just stays like that until I have to turn the machine off. Then when I go back and try and delete the same track it happens again. Ive tried it on different projects and even different tracks on the same project but it only happens when I try to delete track 7!

Also another weird thing is during playback on said project the beats run like this
Bar one: 1..2..3..
(skips to second bar)
Bar two: 1..2..3..4..5..6..
Bar three: 1..2..3..4..
Bar four: 1..2..3..4

This is all very strange. Anyone experience this before?

Back up everything to the cf card, remove it and then reintialize the unit by holding ERASE while turning it on. Might wanna check to see if your RAM is snugged tight prior to reintializing.

If that fails, try reloading the 1.31 O.S. from http://www.akaipro.com/mpc500

From there, it could be an internal issue. Is the 500 next to a radiator or a window during freezing tempuratures?

I had some weird stuff goin on as well:

1.I could not delete samples loaded into pads on bank B despite reformatting cd card
2. After reformatting the unit, I still couldn't make my own kit with samples loaded from the computer via cf card.

Any explanations?

Thanks in advance

try taking out the ram and blowing it off like an old nintendo cartridge.. be careful when taking it out and putting it back in,. this has solved many weird problems people were having before, so its worth a try..

funnily enough this happened to me again today. i took the back off (were you put the battieries in) and blew the dust out. but i haven't got the extra ram thing so i blew the shit out of were the CF card goes in. turned it back on and it was still **** so i just ended up creating a new sequence and copying all the tracks. was weird i was in the seqence params menu and my time sig had changed on its own each bar was a different time sig!
aaanywaayy cheers for the advice!

Yea. I got my 500 off eBay too..hopefully its ur mem card. But not sure why u can't delete the track isn't it stored in the ram? Or in ur case the internal ram? Did u select track 7 hit the erase button, select pads and select all?

You said different projects, so it's not a corrupted save file.
Like said earlier, same cf card, maybe corrupted space on the card, try another one or start a fresh session with NOTHING from any old session copied over, make a trk7 and see if it happens again (using a dif cf card of course, wuddup man, you finally outgrew the xl from years ago?!?

nah brother i didnt outgrow it i just had to sell it when i went to live abroad!! but i needed an mpc back in my life and im skint so i needed to get the cheapest one and fortunately enough the 500 is a beast! i do want a 2500 soon though iv i ever find a cheap one!
yeah i think the problem is just the cf card. i tried deleting track 7 from some other projects and theres no problem so it cant be specific to the track.
its not really a big enough problem for it to hinder my workflow in any way. it was just weird though! scary cos it it goes bust one day im **** cos i own no other samplers!!

actually whilst ive got a thread going ill mention this too!..
sometimes when im working on a project ill have one sequence im working on and its all good. Then ill start a new sequence and work on that for a while. Then ill save entire memory and switch the mpc off. Then when I go back to that project the first sequence is there but the second one isnt.
ill try and fill other sequences with anything (just to test) then save and turn off again, then when I load up the same project any other sequence(s) ive made (other than 1) are never there. This doesnt happen very often but it happens enough for it to be a concern!
im up to my ears in glitches at the moment!

i would try a new memory card to rule that out. ur card could be starting to fail,. back up all ur files from the card to ur computer. u could try reformatting it and putting the stuff back on.. but id get a new one just incase..

Have you tried a new CF card, reloaded the latest OS, and initialised to factory default by holding the Erase/Undo button while powering it up?
