The rules about 'outside samples' get crazier every time I check back.
Still waiting for a 'no outside samples' battle.

Crazier :hmmm: no ones forcing you to use outside stuff, you can still make a beat without, it's just an option, it's not like I've posted nothing and said use what ever you want, or hire a producer and command them to make your beat, or no sample but outside everything allowed, get in here make a beat, win and change the rules, but I was feeling Elmo and thinking when ever we have no outside anything, the sample provided usually has drums throughout, we've had quite a few no outside stuff going on to be honest, just go have some fun, thought the story idea might spark that off.

eh?
"use your own drums but, only one kick and one snare"
I class drums as samples. I never understood why some beat makers separate "samples" from "drums". They are all samples. e.g. I might use the sound of a tire hitting a wall as a kick and a sneeze as a snare.

"Vocal snippets, speech, scratches, and cuts allowed "

Whatever. Just takes the fun outta it for me.
Carry on as you were :smoker:

If there was no outside samples on a lot of these battles the end product would be quite similar

I think a lot of people express their own style with the use of outside samples/drums imo its very difficult to make the provided sample (especially if its only one song with no clean drum sounds) 'your own' without using some sounds your used to or use a lot

I dunno man like ODK said if you only want to use the source(s) provided you can...in short dont **** about some s*it you can change yourself

Cuts scratches are pretty much more than hiphop is producing, those are standard laws goes un-said, I personally think it's quite embarrasing not being able to scratch or cut making Hiphop. Some beat makers don't seperate drums as samples as they might actually be playing live drums, or using a drum machine. So to make Jimmy happy basically one sample, nothing allowed, to me depending on the sample and what can be done, nothing worse than four bar intro then the rest filled with drums. It's not challenging it limits everyone to the point of doing the same old. Each to their own you got some dope samples in that pack, shame to waste them.

What u on about?
Why one sample?
Maybe have a couple of songs to source samples from, in order to create all your instruments from (bass, drums, vocals, synths, atmosphere,fx,etc, etc, etc).

4-bar intro and rest filled with drums?
What?
It's up to the creative to actually create a tune, an arrangement. It's this on which people will vote. If they make something boring then people won't vote.
Add vocals and anything you want to create your own music from the source material.

I simply cannot see the point of using outside samples. It's lazy, uninspiring and pointless.
You can create any instrument you wish from the source audio given.

I'm not arguing about it.
Carry on. Lots of people are happy with your method.

I agree with what your saying Jimmie. But you can just pick threw one of these samples. And do your thing and then explain how you chose to flip. Then when we hear your that your track is crazy of the hook and you used nothing but one track for all samples. .. Well then your showing us up.. And taking the battle.

Your stuff is real nice. Get down

This is a very nice collection of samples.Nice breaks included as well.I`m in this one.OOH WHEE!!! Indeed.

My 2 cents on the above topic is USE WHAT YOU CAN/WANT outta of the samples provided. Many times I only used one of the songs as the main groove and disregarded the rest.I never let the rules trump my creativity.Get busy!
