I dig for records a long time now but since I always was into eurobins I never got a sealed copy of any pre 80s.
My neighbour (and landlord) always had interesting stuff from time to time (I got his old mixing desk, nice amp etc) and now he threw some records in his cellar which I saw and couldn't breath for a moment cause there are records I havn't expected.
Rufus Thomas
Ohio Players
Whispers
some Krautrock
DrumDrops 1-3 (WTF...my landlord?)
Some of them are still sealed (Ohio Players - Pleasure, David Ruffin - same) but they are cutouts (just a small cut in the cover, not like a sometimes when there is cut the complete corner)
Since a record with a cutout is worth less than a record with intact cover I wonder if this has a big influence on the price when the record is still sealed.
I guess it depends on the digger and his preference (some are more interested in the music and the condition of the vinyl, others won't buy a cheap record although the vinyl is ok but the cover is in a bad condition.
I'm more interested in vinyl and the music.
What about you? What is your experience with sealed/cutout records?
peace
