I don't blame people that are complaining, if my experience with the Ren or any other product would be as bad and frustrating as for some of the guys around here, I would be complaining too.

you sure Version 1.6 wasn't (November 2013) ?

Well maybe don't take part in a thread where the subject and first post is comparing the frequency of Maschine updates to MPC Software updates, and lists the features in the latest Maschine update.

 A bet that you made up in your own mind, based on the fact you think they have to have an update every 3-6 months, or whatever your designated timeframe for updates is, which isn't even up yet.

MONSTA_UNO wrote:you sure Version 1.6 wasn't (November 2013) ?

Yes, sure, it was January 13th.

It has only been 3 months since the last update.

MONSTA_UNO wrote:and and we had an agreement . which was .. a update every 3-6 moths and that is not complaining when you dont get that .. its called keeping your word .. i understand things happens . so thats why they gave a 3-6 moth window ... but the window is up .. . if you ask me its been up but i forgot the exact day of the last release .so i added 20 more days and that will be up in 5 days . so he/we has every right to make this post .. its been 6 months .. i would see if it has only been 2 or 3 months and people started to complain , but naw 3-6 months was the deal . so keep your word .. if it was me i would . be like look i know it taking longer than expected .. so here is some free vst or sound packs .. thats just me ..

The last update, 1.6, was released on January 13.

A 3-6 month window is not up for another 3 months. :Sigh:

1.7 to the rescue!

I'm not sure where this 1.6 was released in January is coming from. 1.6 came out on November 13nth, and coincided with the release of Maschine Studio, which got a lot of us excited that Akai was still in the game for this thing. You can see the date in 1.6 release notes.

The end of January was when Akai was showing 1.7 at NAMM, making some of us think that 1.7 was just around the corner.

I like the REN for what it does but am disappointed at some of it's implementation. I can understand why some people get on Akai's case. It's like a cheating girlfriend, even if she tries to do you right, the second she's gone for a night you expect the worst. Akai had a bad history of unfinished OS's ... the promised MPC5000 OS, etc.. And other things like the vintage mode hardware vs software debacle that have given people a reason to question their reliability on honesty. I see both sides.

So Akai maybe working their butt off on a new update, but their past history will make some skeptical till they release the goods. Others may wonder if their development will mostly go to their new hardware MPC running custom windows software, which is probably easier to program for then Mac and PC operating systems running so many possible configurations of graphic cards, interfaces, software etc.. Their past experience has shown that they can leave a product not completely developed to what was promised (MPC 5000), and they can say they are still working on it while releasing a new toy that they say will be the one that they finally make good on.

I hope that they haven't switched all their resources to a new revenue stream and are slowly leaving the REN behind. I am still hopeful, and I do like the REN. I also think sometimes people attack AKAI for stupid **** that is undeserved..

I'm not here to really judge other people's opinions either way. I hope AKAI make good. But they have given people a reason to be skeptical through the last many years.

Fun thing: You repeat what I said, but yet you try to contradict me. I just said the **** same thing, and that's it. But thanks for complaining anyways, anyways. :Sigh:

EDIT: Oh and... I'd STILL rather have 1.6.9 than 1.6 - no arguing about that! But PLEASE get serious: If you don't like it, don't use it! It doesn't get any simpler, trust me!

absolutely not.... By the way 1.6 itself was a 1.5.9...and I did not contradict u in any way, cuz u seem to forget the element, the new mpcprototype the mpk the rhythm wolf, and previous updates, delayed releases...thats why I said 100% on 1 thing...but okay...

again I never said I didn't like it...i even, said several, times I love the damn thang...what does that have to do with my initial question, do u have faith 1.7 will be solid? I AM NOT "TOO SURE"

if am purposely misinterpreted one more time, I'm off this forum...

Sorry mate, I feel you. There's a bunch of releases from Akai Pro at the moment, but they're fighting for survival just like everyone else does. And why not taking 20 shots in the dark just to kill the one contestant if necessary? It may not be efficient, but it'll work one way or another. And (sorry) if you don't make up your mind OR if you don't speak precicely, don't complain about misunderstanding...

I'd just rather have them to have coders constantly working (and they do) than doing nothing; there've been some major updates so far and none of them really were a giant leap or something, but sometimtes it's better to take small steps in the swamps than to jump and drown. But we all want the **** to get better, and criticism withough appreciation ist nothing more than denunciation.

Complaining alone won't change a thing if not presented construcively, that's all I ask for. Period.

If anyone is really wondering what's taking Akai so long to release a 1.7 update for the Ren, all you have to do is look at the money. Follow the money trail. It's just that simple. While users have been waiting for 1.7, this is what AkaiPro has been REALLY working on. This is their focus right now:

Just take an honest look at what they've been working on, and consider the fact that those products, once they're released, won't really require any type of future software updates. They're going to continue to promote those products, sell them, and run with the money. They won't have to continually pay anyone to fix any software with those items. We live in a corporate world, and that's the way the Akai corporate mindset works. If you are a Ren user, you're old news in the corporate mindset. They already have your money, and they're already on to the next thing:

Image

Once they're on to the next thing, it's game over. Just ask any MPC 5000 user. Just think about it. All of those products have been announced since 1.6 was released.......

FWIW, I paid $845 for my Maschine Studio last December, and it is truly extraordinary, especially with the new update - and the template for Live is great as well - and it really plays well with my Push.

That said, I want the APC Mini like.... yesterday.... :)
