Maschine 2.1 update dropped today

And now I have just about nothing to b!tch about it lacking anymore . They finally added a mixer function on the hardware for us MK II & I users (which MPC's have had from the gate . . . glad they caught on) as well as the function that lets the metronome sound off when record mode is enabled (again . . . another missed MPC feature) .

I guess it's onward and upward from here .

Yeah really solid update in terms of features. Yet to try it out tho, but really glad it finally dropped:

The best part is how they're nudging in all the expected MPC features . I fckin' hated the work flow at 1st but it gets better and better .

That's an insult of on top of injury for akai I hear ya on the workflow, never explored OG maschine when still had it cuz of it

Switched from 2kxl to maschine a few months ago and it's no comparison. I can't even believe ppl still use mpc's. Maschine is so much more powerful.

I loved Akai.. but Maschine Studio made it a no brainer.

I went from MPC4000 to maschine.Str8 back to MPC4000 and then maschine and St8 back to MPC4000.And thats it.........have fun tho.

Yep... after using Maschine... my MPC 1000 felt like a step backwards.

While I do miss Maschine (planning on picking up a second-hand MKII this year) I DO really enjoy throwing my 1K in my bag and going off-roading. That is something I would never feel right doing with my Macbook.

This update looks wonderful though. I feel kind of bad for the guys at Akai whose job it is to come up with features/additions to directly compete with Native Instruments. Their jobs must be getting tougher and tougher.

I guess you miss the fact that Maschine is a usb/midi controller and cannot be used standalone!

Not at all.
Maschine 2 is nothing of the sort. It's a completely new version 1 with a little update. 2 has ruined the workflow of many 1.8 users. Features and functions users relied on ( small detailed stuff no one ever mentions) were either bypassed, removed or simply ignored. There was absolutely no thought whatsoever regarding long term user workflows.
It's lacking in many areas. The GUI...a mess. The size of the mixer faders, the convoluted midi, the lack of symbiotic relationship between hardware and software.
I have both the Ren and the maschine studio. If Akai update a few areas such as global mixer, ability to record pattern changes on the fly and a few others then as software goes the Ren will be winning in terms of features. In terms of hardware I much prefer the Ren because it feels like a musical instrument! but that's just personal preference.

Maschine 2 was all about those LCD screens......everyone was blinded by that BS, including folks here........and it has bugs, not that anyone could actually believe that it seems. I've had a number of corrupted sessions, samples I recorded that simply cannot be found and others....I feel maschine 2 was dumbed down, and I'm not alone in that thinking.

And for the record my Ren has been I it's box for about 9 months. It's no use to me until a global mixer is implemented. I'm no Schill for the Ren or any other gear.

labcoat I got to disagree with you on some stuff.. I've owned the 2kxl, 3000, and 4K. The maschine studio is so much better in my opinion. I've never owned 1.8, so I can't speak about that, while I do talk with dudes who came from that to 2.0, besides the changes in workflow not one of them have complained about the software. As far as my experience with 2.0 so far, shit's flawless. You either like it or you don't I guess. This shit is too much fun, and I'm finding cool stuff and easier ways of getting things done in the software daily.
