NO SCSI DEVICE!!

I just purchased this SD Card Reader:

and ive read the manual and seen tutorials on how to hook it up to the MPC2kXL but for some reason im getting this problem:

I would appreciate if anyone could comment telling me what im doing wrong. please help!

It's a little difficult to see from your jerky video but I would swear that the terminator is not plugged in. Turn it round and insert it into the socket.
Take a photo of your terminator and post it here.

Edit: Just looked more closely. That's a very strange terminator (if it is a terminator)

Need a good photo of it.

Edit 2:
I see now , your terminator has both male and female connectors.




Possible problems:

Faulty SCSIcable
Unsuitable SD card
Faulty terminator
Blown SCSI fuse

Did the SD card come with the drive or was it recommended?
If not, try a different brand of card.
2kxl can be a bit picky, especially with SD cards hence most people stick to CF cards.

I bought a hard drive from the same seller and it doesnt work

PILCHARD, yes the terminator is in all the way, also it came with the card reader so i dont know, maybe the seller is false advertising cause OLDSKL1 says he bought the same thing from ebay and he had the same problem, i lll get to the bottom of this..

Have you tried to format the card, after connecting the terminator to the drive?

Maybe try connecting the cable to the terminator, and then the terminator to the drive.

He bought a different type of drive, from the same seller.

Yes ive tried both of those things and both have the same problem telling me "no scsi device" at this point i think i should just return the product and buy something else

Simon what do you think i should do? what do you use?

What OS version is on your MPC ?

OS is 1.14

just to be clear i got the hard drive not what you've got, but same problem.

he told me to upgrade my mpc to ver 1.2 because mine was 1.14 and he said he'd tested it before on an XL which was v1.2 and worked

I did this and it didn't work so I emailed him (over a week ago) explaining.

I emailed him yesterday basically asking for a response or is he just happy to take my money

replied this morning saying he never recieved my email (its in my sent items though ) and he will help me with the problem.

What is the 14 day policy?

Don't you have 45 days to open a dispute on eBay?

He says we only have 14 days to return the product, only if the product is Dead On Arrival, which it is, but we have to talk to him first so he can accept the fact that we want to return it and get our money back. Except he stalls with the messages until the 14 days are up and then he we decline the return because we wouldnt be able to send it in on time. i dont know about you but that sounds like a scam artist to me..

Save all the incoming and outgoing ebay messages and send them to ebay if he ignores you within the 14 day return period. You'll get your money back. You just gotta go through the whole bullshit process.
